First post since I have been back, so to make up for a few weeks of absence I'm going to talk about the anger in my blood after having watched the new X-Files movie.
Now I was a huge fan of the show, before liquid metal man joined the cast, and I actually enjoyed the X-Files movie from like 10 years ago, so I had really high hopes for this new project. But no, Chris Carter went ahead and shat on my favorite FOX franchise since Herman's Head.
Is this a trend? Take something that twenty and thirty somethings hold dear and completely butcher it? Anyways, I guess some people might find it a good thriller/suspense movie, but for actual fans of the X-Files there is just nothing there to please. No aliens, no monsters, no invisible assassins, no funny hacker guys, NOTHING. No, what we get is a stupid plot about kidnapped FBI agents and a pedophile priest who receives psychic visions. Yeah, seriously. Oh and some Russian guys are snatching body parts but that's not even a plot point to care about.
Xzibit is not a believable skeptic FBI agent. Billy Connolly is actually a pretty good actor, but his pedophile priest is just an unnecessary character in an unnecessary movie. Mitch Pillegi took a break from doing the voice over on Breaking the Magicians code to reprise his role as Agent Skinner for about 53 seconds.
Anyways, it just saddens me that this movie could have been about 30 times better. Usually people either hate the show or love it, so this movie for some people may be hit or miss. But for me it was all miss.

So I'm not the only person that misses Herman's Head?

I still need see this.
I liked Robert Patrick on the X-Files. I didn't think I was going to, but he won me over.
The problem with resurrecting the X-Files is that they killed off CSM in the series finale. Worst idea ever.

Yeah CSM was a creepy addition and always added some mystique to the show.
Plus, I'm sure Camel made a million per episode. Or was it Kools?
Oh yeah I forgot about the extra side plot with Scully working at a Catholic hospital, having a clash with ANOTHER creepy priest, who may or may not be a pedophile, over stem cell research for one of her patients.
This isn't a spoiler, it's a warning. STOP fucking preaching. (About stem cells, not Jesus. Jesus is just alright with me)

CSM should've died like two times before he actually died! It was unnecessary to keep bringing him back those last two seasons IMO. What'd he actually do? Really. He's chilling out in a cave, growing his long hair, but what's he going to write in his Christmas cards for what he accomplished that year?
Anyway, I liked the second movie, but I wrote a long note about why it was going to get more massacred than Christ (and it did).

Sweet, I knew someone would know the brand name. I should have figured it would be a fictional brand.

IIRC, they also weren't even actually cigarettes. They were some herbal blend of non-carcinogenic stuff.

Well, instead of Cigarette Smoking Man we should have called him "Aging Hipster Who Smokes Clove Cigarettes" but I guess AHWSCC doesn't have quite the same ring to it.
