So, I've been saving up since summer and am contemplating purchasing an Xbox 360. I would be getting the 60gb Pro model, and paying entirely myself.

I want to know if you guys think It's worth it. I have a wii, ps2, Gamecube, and N64 as of now. I know of many games I'd want like Crackdown, Halo, and (the big one I want) Resident Evil 5.

Since the novelty wore off, I've been disappointed with the wii. There are just too many titles that come out only on 360 and PS3, and I'm NOT paying 599 US DOLLARS for a few exclusive titles.

So really, all I want to know is if the 360 has enough titles to justify the purchase.

I bought one two summers ago, and while I don't have too many games for it, I've never been disappointed with it or regretted buying it. (Though, admittedly, I did regret buying Dynasty Warriors: Gundam for it. Definitely didn't regret getting Bioshock, though)

At your age, with the market as it is, take the cash and invest it in the Stock market in a mutual fund.

You should see an average of 8-12% return on it per year. If you forget about it and just go on with your life, you will have about $10,000 when you are 45 and ready for your midlife crisis.

Funny thing is, I can't tell if you're serious or not.

I'd get it, unless you have something else in mind that's better. I bought a 360 a while ago and I"m still happy with it.

HA HA HA!

Enjoy your youth and buy the fucking game system! The Xbox is also a media center for you.

Living life to its fullest is part of the balance of life itself. Saving all your money definitely helps in the long run, but you can't do it at the expense of a horrible drought of entertainment.

If you were wondering about the math, it is correct. At 45 you would have about $10K with annual compound interest of 10% on $400.

Oh, but I just thought about it. If you are going to buy Pokemon games, you should invest the money in Enron instead.

You know I MIGHT remember hearing the name Enron on the news somewhere linked to the biggest Bankruptcy ever...

This is another concern I have. Is it very common, and can it be fixed?

I've had two 360s so far, and the second as a result of selling the first. I've had mine for two years and have yet to see the infamous red ring, although I'm fully expecting the damn thing to turn traitor the moment I mention this.

Ms will repair it, although you'll be out your 360 for about a month or so from what I've heard.

My friend got his first RRoD like a year ago, got it replaced, and it's been good sailing since.

Yeah, you can replace it, as long as it's still under warranty.

And yes, the 360 already has more than enough exclusives to get you interested, and this year's gonna be pretty crazy for it.

It seems extremely common to me, as in, from what I've heard online, just about every single system eventually gets it. I'm still debating as to whether or not to get a 360 or PS3, and the RRoD is a huge factor in my undecidedness. I'm getting ass tired of buying expensive game systems only for them to fail a year later (My original Xbox died, and I've gone through 2 PS2's, all of which I only used occasionally).

The turnaround time to repair the 360 was actually rather quick surprisingly. Why don't they make a system that takes carts much like NES, SNES N64, but the cart would have a small optical drive in it. Not only would the system last a million years but it would be much easier to repair. Yes I know it wouldn't be cost effective, but damnit neither is an optical drive system that lasts a year.

If MS offered an internet browser with flash capabilities on the 360, I would buy one today.

I want streaming audio & video from the web on my entertainment center. The first company to make it happen is going to get my business.
