I'm mostly talking about Zelda games, because it can be hard to know when you hit one, but post about any game you want.

In Twilight Princess, there are two bugs I know that involves save-and-quitting in some place :
- If you save on the northern part of the bridge of Eldin (the one that disappears) and quit without entering the next screen, the game will take you back on the southern part with no way to get across.
- Save-and-quitting in the cannon room will make some guy disappear, while you have to talk to him to continue.
They are not on all versions of the game though. The first bug was fixed in my copy of the game. I have not tested the second yet.

In Link's Awakening, in the eighth dungeon, you need three keys to get the dungeon weapon. If you use two, depending on which ones are left you might not be able to get any key anymore. It happened in my first playthrough. Just go there last.

This one I'm not sure, but I got stuck in the fourth dungeon of The Legend of Zelda (NES). Problem with keys again. I don't even know if keys can be used from one dungeon to another in that game.

You can always buy keys in the NES version.

In addition, a lot of key-doors can get gotten around with well-placed bombs.

Damn, I thought this was game ending clichés. I was going to say: When the main character doesn't die. Also, when they do die.

I ran into the same problem with Link's Awakening but in the water dungeon. At some point you get a key and you have to use it on the next door you see. If you go past that door and keep going to another door and use the key there, there's no way you can finish. It's a shitty design flaw that made me restart the game my first time through.

Some people say this glitch completely fucked up their game, so it might be better to restart.
And by game, I mean the whole fucking cartridge broke. So it's like the ultimate game-ending glitch if you're unlucky.

It was before I figured out the Screen Warp, I was like 9 or 10 at the time. That's got to be one of the greatest glitches ever though.

In The Legend of Zelda level 2, you can bomb up the entire right wall and gather a large number of spare keys. Keys can be used in any dungeon in any order.

LoZ:OoT -- Using the extra bottles glitch on bombchus, only to forget there's a chamber in Ganon's Castle that can only be opened by sending a bombchu under the gate to hit a switch that opens it.

You could do that with a couple other items as well.

Didn't FFVI have a few of these style glitches?

I can add Guile's Handcuff glitch from World Warrior too. If the game is set to Infinite Time there is no way to end the match, your opponent will remained "handcuffed" to you for forever.

WWF No Mercy had a glitch where if you won a title belt with a custom character, it would erase all the data on your cartridge. You'd have to unlock everything all over again and remake all your custom characters. It was fucking gay.

I remember that. I won a title and the next thing I knew my character was all generic and had the animations of The Rock and I lost all my stuff.

Tomb Radier: Underworld.

Having to do the same jump 5x because when you press right (Or any direction, really) and jump, Lara decides you wanted to let go of the ledge and just fall to her death.

How about glitches involving game endings?

In Goldeneye for the N64, if you use a 2 controller play styles, you can kill Baron Samedi during the game's final cutscene.

Not really a glitch but if you played the Cradle level with either of the speed cheats turned on 007 would jump to the helicopter before it got there or if you had it on the slow cheat he would jump too late and miss the helicopter. Smile
