MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Six friends spruced up in fake blood and tattered clothing were arrested in downtown Minneapolis on suspicion of toting "simulated weapons of mass destruction."

Police said the group were allegedly carrying bags with wires sticking out, making it look like a bomb, while meandering and dancing to music as part of a "zombie dance party" Saturday night.

"They were arrested for behavior that was suspicious and disturbing," said Lt. Gregory Reinhardt, a police spokesman. Police also said the group was uncooperative and intimidated people with their "ghoulish" makeup.

One group member said the "weapons" were actually backpacks modified to carry a homemade stereos and were jailed without reason. None of the six adults and one juvenile arrested have been charged.

"Given the circumstance of them being uncooperative ... why would you have those (bags) if not to intimidate people?" said Inspector Janee Harteau. "It's not a case of (police) overreacting."

Harteau also said police were on high alert because they'd gotten a bulletin about men who wear clown makeup while attacking and robbing people in other states.

Kate Kibby, one of those arrested, said previous zombie dance parties at the Mall of America and on light-rail trains have occurred without incident. Last fall, nearly 200 people took part in a "zombie pub crawl" in northeast Minneapolis.

Kibby said they were cooperative and followed the two officers to the station where they were questioned and eventually loaded into a van and booked into jail.

"It was clear to us that they were trying to get a rise out of us," KIbby said.

Members of the group could face lesser charges like disorderly conduct, police said.

Sorry to be a conservative, but I understand where the cops are coming from. A lot of people would call the cops on some kids doing shit like that, because a lot of people are knee-jerk reactionary paranoid faggots.

After spending a weekend with some zombies, I gotta say we need to stop the discrimination and racism. They are people too, with feelings and families.

It's not something I'd get worked up over, but it's something some fuckstick Christian mother who never turns off CNN would get worked up over. Like I said, I see where the cops are coming from. If they didn't take any action, there's a chance, and possibly a pretty good chance, that someone would have called the cops and said some kids were out with what they thought looked like weapons, or explosives.

People are fucksticks.

I am not afraid of WMDs.

I am, however, terrified of zombies. And especially dancing zombies. Any zombie that can dance can probably run, and thus catch me and eat my delicious brains. And I for one will not stand by idly while even the threat of delicious brain eating continues to exist. We as americans need to protect our precious brain matter from the zombie menace.

So im okay with a cursory inspection to determine the vital signs of our youth.

Hell, there are old women who phone 911 for a terrorist alert every time they see out-of-state license plates. What the hell is wrong with the world!

If I was a cop I'd arrest those kids too on the grounds of being fucking dumbasses. Zombie dance party? Come on. That makeup didn't put itself on, so you had plenty of time to think this whole thing over and realize it's a stupid waste of time. I miss eugenics :'(

I agree with Dr. Jeebus, and vow to support him should he ever run for president.

Actually, running for president in 2020 is one of my many ill-fated plans.

Problem is I don't fall along party lines. I'm a fiscal conservative and social liberal for the most part, but I'm pro-choice and in favor of capital punishment, so poth parties hate me already, lol.Unfortunately, running as an independant is suicide, so I'd probably go for the Republican nomination.

I think instead of seeking a nomination from a major party, you seek endorsements from major corporations. You could run under the Nintendo/Coca-Cola/Burger King ticket with Wario as your running mate.

I've been called a Librarian before.

Anyway, I could be your running mate. As you can see, my Title is Vice President already, so I have experience.

Unless Syd plans to run with you, although I would think that he would either be indifferent, or actively run AGAINST you.

Update

http://www.kstp.com/article/stories/S20211.html

wrote:
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - A group of zombies have risen up to claim the city of Minneapolis and Hennepin County violated their free rights and discriminated against them.

The six adults and one juvenile who were arrested while impersonating the undead in July filed their lawsuit Thursday.

The ragged group were arrested for "simulating weapons of mass destruction" during a dance party near the Minneapolis entertainment district.

Police alleged that wires protruding from the zombie's backpacks could have been bombs or were meant to imitate bombs. It was later learned the wires were actually radios.

The adult zombies were jailed for two days before police and city attorneys said there was not enough evidence to charge them.

The lawsuit claims the zombie event was intended to "satirize contemporary commercial culture" and the arrests violated the partygoers rights to free speech.

City officials did not return a call to the St. Paul Pioneer Press seeking comment on Wednesday. City offices were closed on Thanksgiving.
