im still gonna watch this movie, but i have to agree w/what jeebus posted earlier. from reading the comics vs watching the trailer, the 2 seem to be very different animals.

and FNJ is right, how can you sit thru AVP:R but walk out on something based on a comic book?!

"based on" is a funny phrase these days. Wanted was "based on" a comic book as well, but that movie was a steaming pile of shit and had NOTHING to do with the comics. I'm pretty sure that's the same way that The Spirit is based on a comic book.

Also, there were a LOT of AVP comics before either of the movies, and I know at least parts of the first movie were directly from some of the comics, so your quote in essence reads "how can you sit through something based on a comic book but walk out on something based on a comic book?"

Creepshow is a horror anthology, a long dead genre where several unrelated stories are told in one movie, usually with a brief framing device that holds them all together. Examples include: Creepshow, Creepshow 2, Tales From The Darkside: The Movie, Cat's Eye, and Trilogy of Terror II.

Someone said that Sin City didn't make sense. Well, Sin City is a similar concept. You have a few largely unrelated stories that come together at points. I was sarcastically agreeing with them, using Creepshow as an example of another movie that didn't make sense.

yeah, i realized what i said after the fact and never bothered to fix my post.

anyhow, i didnt care for AVP + the spirit will probably be better. obviously, i have to watch it first, but we'll see what happens

For the record, I wasn't referring to AVP:R, because I enjoyed that film. I was referring to the first AVP.

secondly, wanted was an entertaining action movie. maybe it didn't do the comic justice, but most people (myself included) didn't even know it was supposed to be based on a comic. I guess you could say that "based on" is more like "got the idea from."

a lot of people won't enjoy the spirit, because they will be picking it apart for it's theatrical merits. the rest of us will see it with friends, laugh at the cheesiness, and have a good time.

I saw this today, and I have to say, much much you are going to enjoy The Spirit directly relates to what you are looking for. If you are looking for a well done, well thought-out movie, The Spirit is all flash and no substance. That being said, if you are looking for a silly movie to crack jokes about, it fits the bill. Between The Spirit just being a douche to The Octopus weird hate of eggs, there is a lot I was able to laugh about.

coincedentally, the comic wanted is absolute shit too so at least they got that right with the movie.
