That made my day. Just watched a small featurette on IMDb and at the end where it flashes the small credit blurb it had the rated R description at the bottom. I am glad to see it be rated that way. I am glad they are not going for a PG-13 rating just to get more kids to see it. I hate how they will purposely get a lower rating to get more people in, like with Alien VS Predator.

like I said, it depends on how it's shot. of course wide shots of a giant vagina squid amid a city would be cheesy, but close up shots and cuts to things like a dead child grasping a toy, newspapers with blood on them, shit like that, all over the city, and showing parts of the squid, would totally work.
worst case scenario, they redesign the look of the squid.

I see your point, yeah. I do see the cons of no squid vagina, as it would defeat the purpose of all the warring countries holding hands and gettin' together. Either way, the ending is fucked, imo.

I also understand the business side of it, lower rating, more ticket sales equals more money. But rating movies that really need to be rated R to fully capture what they are about to a lower rating is just lame in my opinion. AvP and Live Free Or Die Hard for example.

Actually I dont think it is completely certain anymore since there is going to be the trial for the rights of the movie and Fox is going to win. That means the publisher is going to change and Fox is known for ruining movies. Although in this case they might not do anything because they are basically getting a movie for free and especially a movie that will bring in lots of cash.

What i don't get is how could this shit with the trial even get started? DC has always been exclusive with Warner Bros. with other franchises so why did they sell the rights to Fox? FOX, where very few good movies have been coming out of it's ass lately.

Apparently, the rights for the movie went through lots and lots of studios and finally ended up with Fox who obviously screwed up so that Warner thought they had the rights.

Fox made some mistakes, but it's not really their fault. If anybody screwed up and is to be blamed for this situation, it's Lawrence Gordon. He made conflicting contracts with both Warner Bros. and Fox. Had he read those contracts carefully, he would have known what was recently ruled by the judge in the case: that Fox still has rights on the property.
We can only hope that both studios do the right thing and do it fast, so the movie can be released on time. If WB doesn't accept that Fox has rightful claims and pays up or if Fox insists on stopping the movie and makes unreasonable demands, this could take a while. And nobody wants that.

Don't be a douchebag. I'm saying that it doesn't matter whether it looks like an evil alien squid or an evil alien turtle or whatever. They could design something that looked nothing like a squid for the movie but was clearly some sort of alien monster.

They have a poster at the local theatre. I pretty much shit my pants when I saw it, but I immediately went to look at the rating. R for nudity, graphic violence, and other things that indicate it hasn't been watered down for the kids' sakes.
