Of all of the Zelda games, I would have to say that the first one got me acquainted with the Zelda lore. But I distinctly remember 'A Link To The Past' as making me say "wow!" It took the Zelda game to a whole new level; not like Zelda II. 'Ocarina of Time' was OK (I never played it through), but LTP came out at the right time to be an impressive title in the SNES lexicon.
So what are the best Zelda games that you all think are fantastic?

Personally my favorite Zelda game is Majora's Mask. I know people would probably say I was crazy but I thought the game had a lot of emotion and atmoshpere to it. The funny thing is, I hated it the first time I played it, but once I got the hang of the gameplay, it really sucked me in. It was eerie and depressing. I think it was the perfect follow up to OoT, dark and brooding, they're almost kind of like a ying and yang type thing when you compare them. I think whatever followed OoT was destined to be the bastard younger brother but it almost seems like MM realizes this and relishes in it.
I also like Zelda II more than the original for partly the same reasons. While it's not a direction that the whole series should have followed, I'm glad they took the chance once and I think it's a fantastic addition to the series.
Oracle of Ages and Seasons were also amazing and I feel like they are very under appreciated now. Definately the best of the handheld Zeldas. While I did enjoy Minish Cap, it was short and just didn't feel epic at all. Link's Awakening was good but Oracles improved upon it in every way.

Honestly, my first Zelda game was Link's Awakening. It came with my ice blue gameboy pocket. Sigh. I love that game still and that was the game that change me from casual player to hardcore game lover. Before then, I would play my SNES and Genesis every now and then. Afterwards, it was whenever I was awake.
The rest of the Zelda games were good. I'm not too fond of the first two, Link to the Past was pretty good. OOT was pretty good. I really like Majora's Mask. WW is good. TP good. I even like the new DS ones. Those are pretty damn fun.

Windwaker was my favorite, but now I'm going back and playing the older Zelda games that I didn't appreciate when I was a kid, and enjoying them. LTTP is a lot less complicated than I remember it being when I was 12, and a lot more fun.

"A Link To The Past" is my favorite Zelda game. It seemed to have everything a game needed. Lots of items, enemies, TWO worlds, side items and other smaller quests, memorable bosses. The music to the game definitely suits its greatness. Hyrule Castle, The Dark World, Turned Into A Rabbit, The Church, The Lost Woods, the opening theme with the story... and lots of other tracks really suck you in.
After that would probably be Zelda 1, for many of the reasons mentioned above. TWO separate quests made this game something great to something more. A game has to start somewhere, and the first one laid tons of groundwork that is still used today and in many other games.
Ocarina would probably be next for me. I never finished it, but it was the first 3D outing of the game and it did a great job with it. It was a small world you were in compared to other games and future Zeldas. The music of Gerudo Valley is one of the game's stand out tracks. The Ocarina songs were great, The Lost Woods, and Windmill Hut also stand out to me. This is a Zelda I've never finished and I don't know quite why.
Finally, I'll add in a 4th game. Yes, everyone divides things into fours, stop asking. Anyway, this is for Zelda II: The Adventures of Link. The side scrolling thing definitely needed to be tried once. It added a new element for sure with the way the game was presented. A first look at how well known enemies would, and should, look in 3D and how you fight them. This one wasn't as complex as other Zelda games, and it's not TOO hard once you've been at it awhile, but it's very rewarded to beat. The Final Temple and regular Palace music stands out to me as great music tracks from this game.

Few Zelda games have really intrigued me, most of them bored me to death. The games that were good imo, were the original on NES, LttP, and Minish Cap.

Ocorina of time. It was my 3rd video game ever, after Super Mario 64 and (don't laugh!) Pokemon Snap. And maybe Super Smash Brothers. It was the first video game I really loved and got sucked into, and it brought me & my friends together. No, really. I may have beat 2 or 3 bosses. My sister did a large portion of the game, her friend did the fire temple, my friend Ian beat Jabu-Jabu for me. I had about a 2 year hiatus in the water temple, but eventually I gave in for a walkthrough. That was the only part, though, and my sister went on to beat the Shadow & Spirit Temples. I was left with the task of beating the game, and though I beleive I already had beat a few games before that, this was the first that was magic for me.

Minish Cap was good, Phantom Hourglass was okay.

I enjoyed the shit out of it, but if I had to play a game over and over again I would have to say Ocarina of Time or Link to the Past. Twilight Princess is awesome though, however the ending as I stated about a year or so ago leaves more to be desired.

Lots of people tend to rip it for being too much of a "rehash" of Ocarina of Time's content, but I think it holds up very well. The combat is great.

I played through OoT and I don't see a large resemblance. Sure they are both 3D, sure they both have an older link, and yea you can ride a horse in both of them. OK and they have swords and shields. And the same outfits. It's still a completely different game.
How did fans realistically want this to turn out. People would complain either way.

Twilight Princess was a great game. I bought it for GC because I didn't care for the Wii gameplay and it was originally designed for Gamecube anyway. It was weird on the Wii because everything was flipflopped.

How the hell would you even notice unless you played the GC version first? I think thats the lamest reason ever to rep the GC version over the Wii.

That's because I did play the GC version first and I also stated I didn't care for the gameplay on the Wii version.
