So I sent my RROD'd 360 into Microsoft, and they fixed it. Actually, they apparently sent me a new one... and the plug doesn't fit into the socket. The power source's plug only six holes in its socket, but the new system has seven. Check it out:
Does anyone know anything about this? Where can I get a power source that'll work with my system?

My guess is that they sent you a newer 360 model that your outdated cord doesn't support. Maybe you could buy a replacement cord?

snap that little piece off with a pair of needle nose pliars.
it's only a temporary fix and a fire hazard. then go to gamestop and buy a cord.

I'll spare you the finer points of my personal hygiene habits, but it is most assuredly not a pube.

reminds me of the Ebay notice that reminded people to put on clothes before taking pictures of items that were reflective.

I'd e-mail them and make them give you the proper cord.

I did. Hoping to hear back soon. If I don't, I'll try and buy one.

I find it weird though that they'd give you a newer Xbox 360 but not include the proper cord.

When you send the system in, you just send in the system itself. You don't include any cables, and you're told to remove the HD. 9/10, you don't get back the same XBox. There was a story about a year about where a guy sent in a custom painted Halo 3 XBox 360 and got back a regular one. He raised hell on some forums, the VG media picked up the story, and the guy ended up getting a new custom XBox, and this time it was signed by the Halo 3 development team.

My friend sent his system in and they told him to not include the HD, cables and so on. But you think if they saw you sent in an older model and knew they were going to replace it with a newer one they'd be smart enough to include the proper cables.

I've been advised to never ever call Microsoft for help. Black Zarak called them when his system got the RROD and it took nearly 2 hours to deal with the operator, and then the fucking moron didn't even type in his information correctly so the shipping box never came. Then he contacted them online and got it sorted out like right away.

I'm becoming more and more convinced to stay far away from Xbox 360s...

It's still amazing that they could make a blunder like that. They should know better.

My brother is on his 2nd replacement Xbox 360, which is actually his 3rd now if you are keeping score. Anyway, he actually got his first one back fixed, but not for long, the 2nd was a different refurb, and that last one is a new one.

The piece inside the system, or the piece on the cord?

Just go to gamestop with your cord. Say that you bought a used system recently and that they gave you the wrong cord, and make them swap it for you. Odds are, they won't care, they'll just grab one from a box of them in the back.

You should send the old plug back with the hair.
Then ask them to send you a new cable.
Finally send a followup letter requesting that they ship the hair back to you since it is yours and you didn't intentionally send it to them.
Offer to pay the shipping and handling, but demand that the hair be returned or that they will lose a customer for life.

I got some surgical scissors and cut that center piece out of the plug that preventing the plug from entering the socket. Works fine now.

That's better than the spider picture email.
