Meh. I'm not impressed.
Winning your first Pokemon match is complete bullshit. You fight your first Pokemon match in Professor Oak's lab and you'd have to be completely fucking retarded to lose. If they want a Pokemon moment, it should be catching your first Pokemon.
Oh, and if using two warp whistles to beat SMB3 is on the list, then why is the screenshot of Level 5? And why is the screenshot about the shell trick in SMB1 of Level 1-1. Come to think of it, most of these screenshots aren't directly related to the moment mentioned. That's sloppy as fuck. I give this an F-

So why don't we do one in response to this horrible excuse of an attempt. We could pull a better list out a dead hookers ass.

I think I'll shake GP's hand on this one, I really can't see how people hold the Aeris incident in so much high regard, when Kefka pretty much causes Armageddon in FF6.

I wasn't defending the Aeris death and I can't honestly agree with adding Kefka to the list. Why don't we include the final boss from FF Mystic Quest while we're at it.
A real moment would be playing Tecmo Superbowl and picking the Raiders or the Lions. Specifically Bo Joackson.

I have been thinking about what could go on a list like this. I'm really trying hard. But I can't think of a lot of memorable moments that weren't just personal moments that would be different for everybody. Finding out Samus was a girl is a good one. Maybe for me, beating Simon's Quest only to find out that you fucking die. But I don't know if that is something memorable to anybody else.

I never said you were defending it, I was just delighted to find someone else that I can agree with about FF7. That also kind of adds on to my point, characters die in games alot. FF7 wasn't exactly the first game to do so. *Never played Mystic Quest, just assuming people die at that part*

I think it has to do with the fact that not only does one of the main characters gets killed off, but one of the more important characters with her being a Cetra. It would sort of be like if Terra was killed off in Final Fantasy VI.

Top Ten Memorable moments in no particular order.
Konami Code
Beating the second Bald Bull in MTPO
Beating Mario 2 only to find out it was a dream
Beating Simon's Quest only to Die
Finding out Samus is a girl
Realizing you can walk through walls in Zelda
Finding out how awesome Blasater Master was
Finding out Sypha was a young woman
Beating Mario 1 for the first time before walkthroughs existed
Beating Skull N Crossbones/Power Punch 2
That's just off the top of my head and only for Nintendo. The last one is obviously my own personal NES moment.

Fuck this shit. She could be Super Man, The One, and a fucking Jedi and she still shouldn't be on this list.
FFIV kills off two kids. Palam and Porom while shitty annoying craptards are killed off. Yang is killed off. Tellah... Dying doesn't make you worth of being on a list.
I have another moment that does belong on it though. Finding out that Kain has blond hair... don't know why... I just didn't see it coming.
How about when Cecil becomes a Paladin. When you find out you are an alien. When you find out that Golbez is your brother. When you find out you just killed Rydia's mother. When Rydia is eaten by Leviathan.
FFIV fucking owns this category and could take up 25 spots by itself. The fact that it is gracious enough to share some space with FFVI, Metroid, and Zelda is a testament to how great a game it is. It sacrifices awards so other great games can still feel good about themselves.
P.S. In case you didn't realize, I really like FFIV.

Maybe I should submit more Gamedaily lists here so I can listen to the priceless reactions.

I did a "top 10 Final Fantasy moments" list once. I remember giving #1 to FF6's opera scene. Close second was the "Garden fight" in FF8.

i agree on the tecmo bowl one, except i would say 'picking the raiders and running to the wrong end zone w/bo jackson, only to turn around and score a touchdown (100 yards)'

And where the fuck was Donkey Kong on that list? They mention it in the intro, but don't put it on the list? The game that put the company on the map and singlehandedly saved Nintendo's North American operations?
And their definition of a "moment" seems to change throughout the article. At most points, it's something you do in-game, but at other points (Yoshi's Story, Twlight Princess, Duck Hunt), it's something that just happens, or it's a business decision.
Also, "stealing the lead" with a blue turtle shell is damn near impossible. You don't get it until you're in 7th or 8th place, so usually all you can do is fuck over the current leader.

yeah, true. even in the N64 version, where the blue shell would fuck EVERYONE up, it was still hard to steal the win

But she was arguably more important than Cloud. She was the only one who could save the world by casting Holy. If she was killed only a few minutes earlier, you wouldn't have been able to beat the game and the Sephiroth would have won.

In the end, we all lost that game. Our time and efforts were thwarted by a sub par plot and multiple emo personalities.

It's times like these where I wish we had an ignore button for certain posters. The game in and of itself was A. Revolutionary B. Awesome. You talk about the "deaths" in FF IV and the only person that died was Tellah and he was old. I think losing a character like Aeris was more of a shock than losing someone you knew wasn't going to stay in your party. </rant>

I hope when you go to hell you have to play FFVII for all eternity. Then maybe you will respect it.

I save the Dachora and Etecoons every time I escape Zebus. Doesn't that counter balance my evilness towards Cloud & Co.?

At the time of when FF7 came out, I was too young to appreciate whatever it was trying to do, I found it much more important and fun to blow up the Eiffel Tower in Twisted Metal 2 than that game when I rented it. After discovering emulation, I found the SNES games to be more entertaining.

"The apples?" I thought they were saying "The end ohhhh"
The list was okay but there were some cliche points.

I hear a lot of people say that Cloud was emo. Personally, I thought he was more ego. I thought he was kind of a wannabe hardass who thought he was hot shit.
I actually thought 7 was a really good game. The materia system was great. I never really understood the cult obsession with Vincent. Maybe I just didn't use him enough.
Either way, I haven't played through it in a about five years. I started it earlier this year, but just like FFV and Chrono Trigger, I couldn't get into it because my PS2 is my kid's DVD player. I started playing VI last night and I'm about half way through it. I'll start VII next, but I may have to wait until Christmas to buy a second PS2. Once I play it and its fresh on my mind, I can critique it a little better. But the only part I remember not liking was when Cloud was dying or in a coma or whatever it was.
