So I spent part of yesterday at the dentist's and part of it in the fucking ER with what is apparently psychosomatic searing hot pain through my left jaw. Woo hoo!

Despite this, I still forced myself to stay awake and set up/play with my Wii.

I got my MOTHER, who hasn't touched a video game since "Wheel of Fortune" on the NES, to play 10 frames of "Wii Sports" bowling with me and she BOWLED A STRIKE.

"Excitetruck" is a lot of fun. People are being too hard on that game. The control is really good once you complete, like, the first batch of tutorials.

And "Zelda" is... dear lord yes. I don't know why Gamespot felt the need to say the Wii controls feel tacked on. With the remote/nunchuck combo allowing me to basically have my hands wherever I want, the controls become... almost subliminal. It's really, really bizarre in a good way.

I haven't been playing it with both arms out in the front, the way the dude who demoed the game at the E3 conference did. I play it more with my right hand on my chair's arm rest, holding the remote, and my left arm on the other arm rest, raised up on the elbow. It's just really comfortable and it's like Link moves when I THINK about wanting him to move. And I have the game running right now through the packed-in RCA cables (waiting for my Component cable order from nintendo.com to ship) and it looks breathtakingly good. This game is a definite example of how good ART DIRECTION can be far more meaningful in a game than raw graphics processing power. (Side note, sometimes the two collide fairly well and we call the result "Gears of Wars" Very Happy ). I feel like this is a lesson Sony still needs to learn, since most of their PS3 launch games look shiny enough, but very bland/generic design-wise. "Lair" MIGHT prove the exception to the rule for them, though.

Yahoo Games gave it 4.5 stars out of five. I hadn't really beeninterested in it at all, but they made it sound really good. They even went as far as to call it the gold standard by which all future Wii racing games would be judged.

I'm poor, and I still have yet to get the games okami, metal slug collection, yakuza, shadow hearts(the last one), fatal frame(the newest one), KoF 2002, and several others for the PS2.

The Wii will have to wait, as much as I love nintendo.

I'm banging my head against the wall trying to find a Wii! I'm really hoping that the reason that the Wii's haven't arrived yet is because of shipment displacement due to Thanksgiving, and that they'll get here on Saturday, but I doubt it. Further screwing up the situation is the fact that the newspaper circulars for places like Hastings and EB Games advertise the Wii even though the local stores don't have them. What I don't get is that every time I call a store and ask about future shipments, they always say "uh, sometime before Christmas, but we don't know when". BULLSHIT! Either every clerk I've talked to is too God damn lazy to check the shipping invoices, or they're outright lying to me. They have to know when the Wii shipments are getting to the store in order to allocate space for the consoles in the electronics department. I really have no idea why I'm being bullshitted, but in hindsight I should've left Wal-Mart and went to Kmart with my friend Uriah to get one of the 3 they had (even though they had 3, the only person there early was Uriah, the rest got bought Sunday by people who were spurned from Wal-Mart and the like). All I know is I WANT A FUCKING WII SOOOO FUCKING BADLY I CAN ALMOST TASTE IT (the Wii)!!! Bleating and Babbling

My mom let her emotions get the better of her and paid slightly more than she should have (but still within reason) and now she's worried she might've been ripped off. The auction ended with her winning and the seller (yes this is an eBay auction) gave her a tracking number, but the thing is this: the seller lives in Ohio and it's coming to us (in Georgia, near Atlanta) from New York. The tracking number confirms that New York received it. Any idea what could be up? I really hate being my mom when she's this agitated about being ripped off.

I don't use Ebay because a lot of my friends have been taken by Ebay scams.

I hated being my mom, too. But once the daughter of the gypsy I killed with my car was sufficiently convinced that it was an accident, she gave me my body back and gave my mom hers.

yeah.. Wii looks pretty great... i'm waiting though.. so potential bugs can be weeded out before ihop on board, waiting for that and brawl to come out...

So for those who have it, what do you guys think of the controls and the like.. i heard red steel was a fairly fun game... cool to keep us posted for those who have it, on how you like it.. and definitely on how you guys like the new zelda game, and the story line etc...

I also heard they still are coming out with one for game cube, but it's just the wii one without the wii features..

I played Red Steel. Don't waste your money. AWFUL game. Zelda is fun, although I've only seen the first hour or so of it so I haven't gotten to the good stuff yet.
