So, yeah. A fuckton of freezing rain fell right on top of me, and the entire area is now mostly without power. 3 days later, there's still no power for anyone who doesn't live on a main road. I probably won't have power back until at least Tuesday, and that's optimistic.

We spent the last 2 days at an emergency shelter because we have no heat as well as no power, but now we're at my dad's house. It sucks, but beats the hell out of sharing sleeping space with about a hundred other people on a cot, and it beats the holy fucking hell out of 19 degree weather and no heat.

We lost all the food in our freezer, though. And I just went shopping.

So...yeah. Fuck.

How much time will you get off from school/work?

I remember when I was like 13, we had Christmas vacation, a huge snow storm the next week, and 2 ice storms the week after. In a 3 week span, we went to school for 2 days. It was fantastic.

We just had a big snowstorm last week, luckily there hasn't been much ice yet.

At a certain point, the amount of time off you get doesn't matter. I'd rather be at work than stuck at home without power.
