After watching all the trailors, is anyone dreaming about this game as much as i am? I hope it has the same popularity as WoW and even brings some WoW players over to the land of Sanctuary.

I was thinking about buying DII just to get back into it. Do people still play it online? i remember three years ago it was still pretty popular, but many new mmorpg have come up since. This was easily one of the most fun d-crawlers to level up on, especially with the online play as new items were always being added.

Anyone have any info on a release date?

They still play D2 but all it really is, is people asking "hey you wanna do a level run?" or what ever the hell it is... not so much of the adventuring that it used to be, since almost everyone has played and/or beaten it.

It really helps when your post says the full name of each acronym at least once so people know what the hell you're talking about.

I still play Diablo 2 on a regular basis.

I could create a new character on USWest/East if you'd like to play.

You should totally check out the IRC channel.

Haven't played a Diablo game since the first one for PSX. "Not enough mana." Is forever engraved in my head.

I own the first one for PC, but I never get to play it. I always wanted to play II, but when it came out I wasn't really into PC gaming.

Sorry, I didn't mean to come off as a prick. I knew what you were talking about. It's just always been a pet peeve of mine when people use acronyms for every thing. All the time.

Douche, how does it feel to be the biggest D of them all?

Also, I am interested to see how well Diablo 3 scales on older hardware. It certainly seems interesting, but I'm not willing to buy a new system for it.

I do remember people doing alot of level running on diablo 2. Do similar things happen in world of warcraft? and is world of warcraft really all that people say it is... such as a place to find a romantic partner while fighting dark elves?

From my experience, Blizzard was never much of a hardware nazi when it came to their games, back in the day I could play Warcraft III on my piece of crap Windows 98.

People do power level in WoW to some extent but it is usually only done for breaking a record for records sake and for the lols in Athene's case (http://athene.movielol.org/record.php), and usually requires more effort than it's worth.

World of Warcraft is a huge time sink. You can always improve your character and or your worldly social standing.

How fast you progress is only limited by the amount of time you devote. During a two year block I invested 127 days. I regret that decision, but I was very powerful in the game at the time that I quit. I suppose that it all comes down to what you expect to get out of your gaming experience.

I was never a Warcraft type guy, but I can say I definately was a Diablo II guy. It was a great game to play in the days before broadband became more widespread.I played the LOD expansion but never could get the type of sets I wanted like some others had. I eventually stopped playing because of that old rule where you account would expire after like 60 days. I think the highest I made was level 42

Shortly after the hype about D III being confirmed, I got together with 2 of my close friends with the notion of running a Pet-centric Necromancer, Auradin (me), and Pet-centric Druid. Fun times until we beat Diablo, then the interest just completely died off.

I have a similar experience and because of that, it made me recognize that every MMO is just a time sink and a waste of one at that. When you eventually do quit, you come out the other side with nothing tangible having been accomplished and have a bad tatse in your mouth after realizing you hadn't even had fun with it since you first started playing; you just sorta of played it to play it, like a job.

I really don't think a Diablo MMO will work and hope they take it in a different direction lest it fail Sad

Great Posts, +2 rep

My best friend and I wanted to get into Everquest 2 since he finally has a nice computer and lives across the state going now. This would be a way for us to still hang out.

We pretty much got bored within like 3 days of the game and I am pretty sure WOW is simliar since they both pretty much go by the same concept.

I remember being 18 and seeing another friend's dad play Everquest and thought it was the coolest thing ever. He had a bottle of whiskey along with tons of pot that we would smoke when leveling up.

He eventually lost his house cause he wouldnt show up to work at his good job and ended up moving back in with his 70 year old parents and continued to play Everquest now and then.

I guess games like Mario and Zelda are nice because they are fun but don't have a level of addiction where you devote years of life every night trying to appease them.
