The Simpsons has been pretty average TV for the last few years, but this weekend's episode had me laughing pretty hard.
Quote:
Homer: Mmmm...
Mapple Customer Service Rep: I see you're admiring our MyCube. It's fueled by dreams and powered by imagination.
Homer: What does it do?
Mapple Customer Service Rep: You should ask yourself, "What can I do for it?"
Homer: Ok... what can I do for you? Please! I'm begging you!
Mapple Customer Service Rep: Sir, its not even turned on yet.
Homer: But its glowing...
Mapple Customer Service Rep: That light confirms that its off.

They have an episode about ipods now? Gee, that's timely. This is exactly like them making fun of the Phantom Menace five years after it came out. Way too late, hack writers.

I didn't take it to be about the iphone. I understood it to mean Apple as a whole. The attitude that is portrayed.

I just watched it on hulu and thought the episode was totally forgetable. ipods and suspected terrorists, way behind on the times. Plus Homer was very unlikeable I thought.

I thought it was a pretty good episode. Its portrayal of Apple and its fanbase was pretty dead-on.

You know, I know they don't exactly have that South Part one-week turnaround, but this really did seem like dated humor. They used to be a lot more timely...I remember when they nailed the illegal immigration thing 10 years BEFORE it became a big issue.
Anyone else think that genie sounded familiar? I noticed a long time ago Hank Azaria, one of the show's regulars, also did the voice of the Genie when they didn't feel like shelling the cash out to Williams, and he always did a good job in my mind.

Agreed, I mean he poisoned the cake for Christ's sake. Homer was willing to kill them. WTF?

I remember being upset years ago when they did the episode where Springfield got a new area codes because Massachusetts had done that two years prior to when the Simpsons decided to tackle the issue. Watching the episode now though, it is pretty good. And in their defense, probably not every state had been forced to add new area codes when MA did.
As for the Replacement Genie, he was voiced by Dan Castellaneta, not Hank Azaria. He did the voicework on the TV series and in The Return of Jafar. He also recorded a complete Genie dialogue track for Aladdin and the King of Thieves, but then Disney and Robin Williams patched up their differences, so Williams was brought in to re-record all the dialogue.
Yea I have actutally noticed the series has gotten a bit better in the last season or two. That is good as it had been sucking for like at least the last 8 years or so.
and new mexico just recently had an additional area code added to albuquerque. the whole state used to be exclusively 505, now they have 575

Or rather, Alburquerque hijacked 505 and left everyone else with the hassle of changing area codes. Dicks.

The corner stores around here sell these hats with our area codes on them, I used to wear one because I thought it was sorta funny because I work on the phones and have to ask people their area codes over and over again. Here I am wearing one.
I stopped wearing it because no one got the humor but me and kept asking if I was in a gang or something. Anybody else's stores sell hats that proudly proclaim their area code?

Dudes, my aunt, uncle, and cousins live about 45 minutes from Seattle on Lake Tapps and I'll be there somewhere around June!
