Okay, here's the deal. I have an NES sitting in my closet, and I don't use it. I don't even have any games for it anymore. I'm giving it away to the first person who wants it.
What's that? Is there a catch? Of course there is. But not much of one.
It's an old "front loader" in pretty decent shape. It works, but you gotta work with it a little bit if your games are all screwed up. It's got an aftermarket AC cord (Radio Shack), 2 of the new-style "Dogbone" controllers that came with the new-style NES, and the AV cables (no RF switch).
The catch? There's two. First off, if you take it, you have to use it. You turn around and sell this thing, and I will be pissed. The second? You need to take responsibility for getting it to yourself. Two ways you can do this:
1 - Come get it your own damn self. If you live around North Central Massachusetts, or within driving distance, simply come to my door, knock on it, ask for an NES, and bam, it's yours. Hell, I can even direct you to a store or two around that sell used NES games. If you want to go this route, simply PM or email me, and we can work out a time or day.
2 - Have it shipped. Don't feel like driving 3 days for it? Give me an address, tell me how you want it sent, I'll go figure out how much it costs, you send me the money to cover it, I'll send you the NES. Again, we can work out details. Yes, I know I said "free", but I'm not gonna lose money to give something away. And sorry to you non-American friends, but I don't think I want to deal with the hassle of shipping internationally...so unless you can convince me it's fun and easy, I probably won't ship outside the US.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask. If you want to claim it, send me a PM or e-mail. It's gonna be first come, first served, but don't claim it unless you're serious.

I would claim it, but then I'd be an asshole. I am saddened by your loss, but then I am happy you are giving it back to the community! This man deserves an award!!

I would claim it, but it's probably NTSC and won't run with my television. That, and I have no money to pay for shipping. Still, good luck finding that NES a good home.

i will take it, I would need it shipped though, I can send you the money via paypal
I just got a really nice TV from 1988 and this should be a perfect addition since this is probably one of the mass produced ones from 1988.
I will post pictures once I get it setup
I gave my original NES and all my games to my 7 year old cousin in 1998 and his mom ended up throwing it away from what he said because they were spoiled and had a N64 at the time and the NES was too "old" for them to play.I wanted to get mad, but my dad said to let it go and bought me a steering wheel set for my Playstation. He is like 16 now so I should ask him what really happened to it because i dont think my aunt would just throw shit away since im sure she knew Nintendo games werent cheap.
It would be an honor to have the NES from a member of this forum such as yourself because i dont wanna get one from a pawnshop from someone i know didnt take care of it. I will pretend my NES had a long lost twin brother and your system is him
The biggest honor above this would be having Syd's and Jeebus's Nintendo, which I consider the holy grail. Just as I consider Jesus the greatest man who ever lived, I consider Syd and Jeebus the greatest gamers who ever lived.
I wonder if they would auction it off like the N64 kid did his N64. I bet it could net a thousand on ebay easy.

Hey, Usa, since Ermac considers it an honor, maybe you should, I don't know, sign the NES? It would be so awesome.

Didn't I just say I won't ship internationally?
And no, it won't work on a PAL TV anyways.

I should have mentioned...I can't do PayPal. Some fucked up thing about how they want me to confirm some bank accounts I don't even have anymore to re-activate the account. There's no talking to them about it. We'd have to go the old-fashioned postal route.
And make sure that TV of yours has an AV jack, or you're willing to go out of your way to get an RF switch. It'd suck if you couldn't plug it in.
If you can overcome those issues, it's yours. Let me know.

You know, Syd -is- pretty close to me, or so the map says.
If he's willing, and you're serious, I might be able to pull off a signature.

That part is up to Syd.
I'll let you know the shipping. Probably Tuesday (since I'm pretty much wall-to-wall busy until then).
I'll need an address. PM it, please.

It's sent.
It was a little more than I thought it would be, but meh. It was cheaper to send it Priority (where they give you a label and some packing tape) then it was to buy those items separately and ship parcel post. So no worries.

Ermac, did you receive this yet? I sent it last Tuesday.
I'm also still waiting for the check to cover the shipping costs...
