If we want to discuss the 80's we say, "The 80's"

If we want to discuss the 70's we say, "The 70's"

A little over a year when we hit 2010, how will we discuss this past decade?

If someone needed to talk about 1900 - 1909 what did they say? The decade is pretty much forgotten about at this point.

Will these 10 years be forgotten? Would that be a bad thing?

I believe people usually refer to 1900-1909 as "the nineteen hundreds". If decades are being talked about, it's easy to understand they mean the decade, not the century.

We don't need to remember these ten years.

In the classic movie Dazed and Confused, one of the main characters postulated that every other decade sucks: the 50s sucked, the 60s ruled, and the 70s sucked, so he claimed that the 80s would be awesome; he was right.

And if you go back a little further, you find it to be true as well. The 40s were a good time, the 30s sucks, and the 20s ruled.

However, I would like to submit to you that the formula has been corrupted. The 90s were a pretty good time, so it stands to reason, that two good decades in a row mean that we'll have two awful decades in a row. Consequently, the two decade spanning from 2000-2019 will never be worth mentioning in any sort of historical or contemporary context. The next decade worth discussing will be the 20s. This works out famously, because the 00s and the 10s are the two decades that no one knows what to call.

I believe they are going with the aught's or double aught's, but I am not entirely sure.

20 of our prime years gone?

We need to do something to save the next 10 years.

There's only one hope: we need to reimagine 80s properties to appeal to the youth market by adding in sexy teenagers and CGI, and making them way more explodier.

For example, Max Headroom. Max Headroom is best remembered for selling us Coca-Cola, so we can do whatever we want with the property. This time around, Max Headroom is a loner/vigilante who gets befriended by Shia LaBoeuf and Megan Fox. The movie will focus mostly on Shia, Megan, and attempted date rape, with Max getting about 20 minutes of screentime.

Oh wait... you said SAVE. My bad.

Yes, In movies, this decade might as well be remembered as "decade of the remakes".

Best to call this a transitional period.

I've always been a big fan of the term "ought."

For example, this year is "ought-8"

I'm currently reading a book by John Scalzi where he refers to the time of 1910-1919 as "the teens". I don't think I like it.

I've also heard of the "aught" thing too. I think that's how the zeros work....
