In light of Fallout 3 being released recently, I decided to play through Fallout 1 and 2 on the PC again. I just finished 1 today and am going to start 2 sometime before Christmas.

I really loved the voice acting, characters, and relative total freedom. I had a lot of fun and tried to do everything in the game I could and explore every place and all the quests. It was definitely really cool to play it through a second time and I noticed a ton of stuff I never noticed before, which leaves me even more excited to replay the second one because i remember how much more expansive that one was.

Does anyone else remember these games?

Disregarding the annoying as hell tutorial level, Fallout 2 is a really fun game.

To those aspiring to play it: Don't give up on the game too soon. It really picks up when you get a gun.

Am I the only person to have played Fallout 1 & 2 both when they first came out?

Fallout 3 was a horrible game.

I did smurfsrdead. My buddy and I had a lot of fun with them when they first came out.

I think I'll track them down and play through them again.

I really like Fallout 3 but have never got to experience the originals. All the buzz about them is making me really want to check them out.

The first 2 were cool, really cool. It's a nice change from having a party full of feminine elf doucheballs and short sword +1's like most RPG's on the PC, to having sweet semi-automatic pistols that can rip a man's torso in two.

Plus you can bang hookers.

Yea "Bloody Mess" will always be the best character trait of any game series ever.

I always loved the description of it too; something along the lines of, "Everything around you always seems to die in the worst, messiest way possible."

Good times.

Bloody Mess in FO3 is annoying IMO, head shot with a 32 caliber, and your whole body explodes? No thank you. Sadly no

Unlike a lot of RPGs, including Fallout 3, you could kill anyone in Fallout 1 or 2. Even main quest-vital characters and children.

I can see why they made children invincible, if they weren't the bad press would have out of control. I know that most serious gamers know the difference between make believe and reality, but the media and anyone ignorant of gaming would have hopped all over it and called it a child murder simulator. Rolling Eyes

I think I saw a banner ad for a site called whattheyplay.com that warned Fallout 3 Sex see what your children are playing! what a bunch of witch hunters, its rated MATURE duh!

Even in Fallout 2, you never actually saw the sex. The game would just fast forward to a few hours later and if you did it enough, you'd get the "Sexpert" trait.

I played F2 a lot. ._.

That's what I don't get about the ad regarding sex in FO3 I mentioned above, yeah there's an option to sleep with one of the prostitutes, but all that happens is a rented room and the normal wait / sleep counter bar, so why all the outrage? Confused

I liked Fallout 3 better than 2, not as much as 1. Blasphemy, I know, but exploring the wastes is just more fun when you see it from a Mad Max POV situation.

So here's to you Mrs. Robinson. People love you more- oh, nevermind.
