Okay, your not gonna like to hear this, but I hate TV. Basic cable has an annoying habit of putting out shit. Way more shit than sturgeons revelation allots for, and thats bad. So i'm not much for adjusting my schedule so I can sit and watch 30-60 minutes of steaming coils punctuated by advertisements. But two shows have caught my eye.

Heroes, and lost.

I caught lost late, on DVD. Turns out, its genuinely good. Good character development plus odd happenings. Now then, the complaint I hear is that its been three years, and long running audiences haven't been given so much as a proverbial bone concerning the mysteries of the island. Now I can wait, but after that amount of time people begin to wonder if your just makin shit up as you go along.

Hero seems to have taken the opposite direction. Theres very little mystery, and almost no suprise. In case you forgot, if you save the cheerleader, you save the world. Because everyone who watches it has the memory of a goldfish. Whatmore, they make it a point to spoil damn near everything in the preview. Turns out, siler is some chubby guy with glasses. Basically, heroes overcompensated.

Just complaining here.

The version os Syler that is revealed may be an alternate Syler, or at least pre-evil Syler. They showed Surresh's father in the preview as well, and he's dead. It looks like they may be playing around with time and space.

From now on, no comic book character or show based on comic book heroes will be able to:

1. Go back or forth through time. Anything more that time stopping creates problems we have all seen before.

2. Alter reality. In all instances the power to piss with the universe is a handy way for a writer to undo things he dislikes. The character equivalent of a reset button does not make for good writing.

Certain exceptions will be made for the following:

1. Seeing the future. Prophets were cliche when ancient greece did it. But this is a handy shorthand, so its allowed so long as you avoid the seizure inducing future scene flash and the cryptic rhyming verses done to death already. Painting does qualify.

2. Empathy. This one, like reality altering powers, isnt in the show, but it deserves mention. Unless you can bring about emotions in others, like crippling misery or blind rage, you are not allowed this low grade power.

(heh, even the mention of time and space hijinks can send me on a rant. If franklin richards shows up, I will stop watching. On the plus side, maybe there will be a suprise.)

SLIGHT, SLIGHT SPOILER

The next episode of Heroes is going to go back six months and show us some backstory, along with "present" Hiro in the past trying to save Charlie the waitress. The episode is cleverly called "Six Months Ago".

Correction. Sylar is Adam Kaufman from season 3 of "24". This is what happens when your sister dies of a deadly virus!

There's currently three threads about Heroes. When I'm feeling especially ambitions, I'll find some way to merge them all.

Turns out, I suck at this. They got me with the bait and switch.

I will no longer make heroes predictions.
