Just making a thread to discuss general last episodes of everyone favorite shows. No categories here, just talk about what you like and what you don't like when it comes to end of season climaxes or what not.

I'll start with South Park (and this kind of goes along with Jeebus new post relating to South Park).

I thought it was boring, didn't involve any characters I give a shit about, and even though I love Butters, I'm getting tired of the same old "Aw shucks guys" endings that come along with him. It was funny in some parts, but for the most part, I just wanted it to end.

No limits, eh?

A recap of the Buffy season finales:

Season One
The finale saw Buffy take on The Master and she ended up dead. Until Xander brought her back. This was obviously the least expensive finale they made to end a season which was still trying to find itself for the most part. Despite the handicap, the finale served as a faithful preview of what was in store for the series, but more than that it grounded some strong story points which would forever serve the series. While The Master was seen the least out of all the Big Bads, he came back a hell of a lot.

I liked it, but it does feel kind of lacking and cheap especially compared to later seasons.

Season Two
Perhaps the saddest of the finales, so much so it ended with the mutant enemy saying he needed a hug:

This finale is one of the best they had. Reversals, twists, but tragically of all Buffy faced the ultimate choice: kill Angel or save the world. So she killed Angel.

I can't say this is their best finale, but I understand and respect the people who say it is. It really is good and I wish more shows built to finales like this.

Season Three
All out war. Following a great showdown between slayer and slayer, graduation went on with the entire class of Sunnydale High teaming up to take on the Mayor. There was no cliffhanger at the end of this finale and could've served to end the series.

I remember watching this and wishing that Harry Potter would ultimately end the same way.

Season Four
The weakest season had two finales. The big fight was the penultimate episode where Adam had his heart ripped out. The actual finale was weird Lynch city. Dreams, dreams, and more dreams that summed up where the characters were at and previewed the next season.

Kind of weak "big fight" episode. The whole season is resolved too quickly. However, I like the real finale if it aired two months AFTER the big fight episode. It feels like a summer hiatus episode instead of a finale.

Season Five
The first four part finale for the series? I believe so. Buffy takes on a fallen God with her sister's life at the biggest risk. Lots of action, lots of character, Giles tainted his soul, Spike showed his true colors, and worse of all Buffy ended up dead again. This time to stay dead.

I really dig this finale and it could've ended the show well had this really been the end for the series.

Season Six
After the Trio attempted to take over Sunnydale and failed because they turned on each other, their de facto leader simply tries to kill Buffy with a gun. This led to a catastrophic death that caused Willow to become the real Big Bad. Need I say more than "I'd like to test that theory"?

I love this finale. While it upset a lot of people, I really responded to the friend against friend aspect of it. The season did build up to it. This was earned. Best of all, Xander saves the day. Not with a weapon or a spell, but with love. While people always makes fun of love saving the day, the actors totally sold it here. Add the epilogue with Spike winning his soul and I think this was my favorite finale of the series.

Season Seven
The end of the series. And what an epic way to go out! Lots of deaths, but also Sunnydale is laid to rest. The finale is how shows were meant to go out. Not like the Sopranos.
