I know this is a little more serious than what usually gets posted here, but this has disturbed me enough to where I need to talk about it somewhere....

This morning on my way to work I saw a man jump off of an overpass into morning rush-hour traffic on the interstate. A couple of cars hit him when he hit the pavement, and it caused a ton of cars to crash. It's been messing with me all day, and I can't really seem to stop thinking about it. Dude's head pretty much exploded....

I'm not even sure why I'm even posting about this here.... It was just so messed up.... I see things like this on in the news and on TV all the time, but I never imagined it could shake me up so much when it happens in real life....

If anybody here has any advice on coping with something like this, I could really use it....

Shiiiiit, dude... That is heavy. My advice is to buy a shitload of grass and blaze. That is the only way to get it out of your head.

That's fucked up. The city I went to college was lousy with bridges, and the campus was split into three different areas North, North Residential (renamed either East or West after I left), and South. North Residential was home to Fox Hall, a giant residential tower that was primarily used as freshman and sophomore housing. There was a bridge right by it too, and usually at least once per semester, someone would get drunk and/or depressed and jump off it and die. I remember walking over it one day after one of the suicides and there was still blood on the rocks below. That really freaked me out. I had heard it happened, but it wasn't anyone I knew, so it didn't seem real until I saw the blood.

I would suggest doing something that takes your mind off death. If you play video games over the next few days, stay away from violent bloody ones like Gears of War 2. Instead, play stuff like Sonic, Mario, Guitar Hero, Viewtiful Joe, anything with bright colors and no blood. This will help you blow off some steam (TEEN STEAM!) without having to think about what you saw.

I saw a shoe in the middle of the road driving to work this morning, kept wondering if someone got hit crossing the street during the night. There's a few different spots where people leave flowers at streetlights so I think it happens every now and then. Confused

Whoa, damn.

I'd follow Doc's advice here, smoke or drink the pain away. If you have some emergency liquor, bring it out.

I think you need to go on one of those nature realization walks.

Bring two bottles of water and a knife. Go into the woods and sleep there for two days. Don't talk to anyone, don't use any electronics. Don't eat any processed food. You are allowed to bring a book that allows you to identify plants you can eat.

If it rains, you get wet. If you build a shelter, good for you. You are welcome to bring a book of matches, but you can't use them in California right now.

In fact, if you live in California, or go there, you should dump the water on the fires and try to help put them out.

Let it remind you of how precious life is, and how fast it can come to an end. From what I have been taught by the Marine Corps on how to deal with seeing death and guts is exactly what you are doing. Talk about it, get it all out and move on. That day will be with you forever, but try to remember it as a motivation to accomplish things within your life. Or you can just bury it deep down inside and never bring it up again like ol Cal Naughton Jr.

Wow, that's just terrible.

Whatever you do, don't smoke weed. It has a funny way of moveing the things that haunt you to the forefront of your mind.

You wouldn't happen to be the Tek Knight by any chance?

id suggest surrounding yuurself with alot of friends this weekend, even sleeping on their couch's will probably help block out some nightmare so you won't be alone in ur apartment or whatever.

Some times you post things with a punch line and it's all a good laugh but this time i can see the seriousness in the post. Ermac's right, when something tramatic happens it's good to talk to people your close to about it.

I was riding my bike home from work yesterday and there were two cop cars and an ambulance on the main road downtown blocking traffic. When I came past them, there was a bike on the crosswalk...

I think the best thing you can do is talk to someone about it. It usually helps me when I'm depressed.
