So, Hideo has gotten his wish and is making a Metal Gear movie. This movie could be really good, or just another blemish in the Video Game -> Movie genre. Rumor is that it should be a whole new story surrounding Snake and Metal Gear, but what if they simply took the great story and plot from "Metal Gear Solid 1"?

Who would you cast in the rolls?

I got bored and tried to do just that, tell me what you think, and who would be better than my choices!

Here they are, my personal "dream cast" of Metal Gear Solid:

Snake

David Hayter:
He's looks the part, and he IS Snake in the american voiced versions of the game. I don't think anybody else could match the voice we have come to know as Solid Snake.

Col Campbell
Image
Gene Hackman:
My 1st choice would have been Richard Crenna, but he's dead. Sad

Liquid Snake
Image
Sean Bean
This was one of the harder choices, but I think he could pay the role well.

Meryl
Image
Lindy Booth:
She looks like Meryl, hopefully she can act as Meryl.

Revolver Ocelot
Image
Gary Oldman
When you need a good character villian, go with the best.

Hal Emmerich (Otacon)
Image
Alexis Denisof
He did geeky well has Wesley in Buffy and Angel, I think he could do Otacon justice.

Mei Ling
Image
Ziyi Zhang
She looks the part, if she can do perky school girl, then perfection.

Naomi Hunter:
Image
Rosamund Pike
She's got the look and can play the serious role.

Nastasha Romanenko:
Image
Ivana Milicevic
She looks good, and doesn't have to fake the russian accent.

Sniper Wolf:
Image
Julie Benz
She can do sultry and evil, just look at her past work as Darla on Angel.

Vulcan Raven:

Bob Sapp
He's big, he's frickin scary, and one of the few people alive who could make carrying around a minigun and barrel of ammo on his back believable.

As for Pyscho Mantis and Grey Fox, just use the voice actors from the game, since both characters are behind a mask, and can be body doubled by stunt men.

What do you think?

Minor point, I believe you get to see Grey Fox's face near the end of the game against Rex.

Also, a friend of mine agreed that maybe Talia Atfield (name?, she was Josie in Josie and the Pussycats). would be good for Meryl. But your list looks good. Though I'm sure some people would get into the Daredevil Kingpin debate with you about accuracy vs presence (premise being that Kingpin was white and they cast a black actor).

A lot of the best choices are dead... Crenna, Palance, Darren McGavin...

As for living people, Ed Harris could probably pull it off. Or if you want someone who won't cost quite as much money as Hackman or Harris, I'd suggest Donald Moffat or Kurtwood Smith.

Just as long as Russell Crowe isn't Snake... Confused

I'd want to get Dolph Lundgren in there as Vulcan... but if only Johnny Sasaki is available, that'd be fun too. Wink

And if we can cast against race, Dennis Haysbert as Roy Campbell all the way... Or I'll just rent 'Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow' again... whichever...
