Un-fucking-real, this is.

Just what do you tell the starving little kid? "Sorry, there's no meals tonight, but at least you won't be tainted by money from gaming books"?

Go back to rolling your demon dice!

Your saving throws can't save you, only Jesus can!

The article says it's going to Gary Gygax's favorite charity which will remain nameless, but the words "favorite charity" link to the charity.

The money should be used to resurrect Gary Gygax.

At this point, he could only be resurrected as a zombie or skeleton, and that's no fun. Skeletons have no hobbies to speak of, and they cannot be reasoned with.

That's why you need a necromancer to control the situation.

No, you need a priest. Necromancers make the dead their servants, priests restore life.

Priests could turn zombies, but I don't think they can restore their souls. Also, my quote on skeletons is actually a quote from the 2nd edition monster's manual that for some reason stuck with because I found it hilarious. It's actually "Skeletons have no hobbies or social lives to speak of, and they cannot be reasoned with". I forget the social lives part

If you have your D&D 3.5 Player's Handbook, there's a picture implying that priests play Jesus by resurrecting the dead.

Yes, I remember the pictures and not the exact spells.

Clerics (not Priests anymore) can bring people back to life (real life). They can restore a zombie or skeleton, but they need to kill it first.

But you can't bring back Gygax. You can't raise someone who died of old age.

Yeah, he really screwed it up in 4th ed. He should add some witch doctor or shaman class that draws souls into new bodies.

I would give my body to Gygax voluntarily.

NOT IN THAT SENSE, YOU FRIGGIN PERVERTS.

Could you use an elixir of life?

You can't bring someone back to life is a constant caveat of DnD 3.5. Fortunately he achieved lichdom.

In any case, its truly unfortunate. Wasn't the "DnD is satanic" myth dispelled twenty years ago? No matter, there are other organizations that will take the money without the Jack Chick paranoia.

I think it would be funnier if the actual reason was that in honor of Gygax's passing, 5 of the top people got together and played the "Tomb of Horrors" module and were like "dude sphere of annihilation no save death, bullshit!".

Gamespy interviewed Sci Fi Author Michael Stackpole about that phenomenon, check it out he pretty much led the defense of table top gaming during that witch trial. Cool

What, were they too proud for the money or something? "Sorry, but we're above generosity."
