Whoa josh buddy, I'm just defending my second favorite SNES game of all time. GP, SoE is only lame if you are.
And on the off chance that you are actually parapalegic, I apologize.[/color]

Lucky for you, I am not a paraplegic or you would feel really bad.
Wait... lucky for me I'm not a paraplegic... but that isn't the point.
I am willing to accept being lame if it means that this game is also considered lame. |
Then it is accepted you and the game are both lame.
Actually I liked the game, though I havent played it for years and I will never play it again, it was a good game none-the-less. It wasnt the best either.

I'm surprised that nobody mentioned Super Mario RPG for the SNES. If you can get it for either the SNES or the Virtual Console, I'd definitely recommend it.

I think he was asking for games not released on Virtual Console though.

Yeah, I'm not too comfortable with emulation, especially if I can buy the game for a system I own. If I don't have the system (read: NES/SNES) then it is nearly acceptable for me. With great vengeance and furious anger I might be able to enjoy playing the game.

Why not Seiken Densetsu III? Its the sequel to Secret of Mana, really good, and you can play as a werewolf monk. Whats not to like?
I've also heard Live a Live is really good, but I suck at the computer and could never get the translation to work right. |
This. Fuck Secret of Evermore. If it wasn't for that, SD3, the REAL best game in the series, would've came stateside.

I agree, it is fantastic.
Also, it is a prequel to Lufia 1.

Oh, I see. It's just that Super Mario RPG is an awesome SNES RPG.
Edit: Oh, no wonder nobody mentioned that game. He didn't want any RPGs released on the Virtual Console.
Anyway, have you tried Illusion of Gaia?

I recommend Crystalis for the NES and Lufia II: Rise of the Sinstrals for the SNES.

Illusion of Gaia is super bad ass, even though I never made it past the first part where you can collect the three secret rubies.

That is such an opinion it's not even funny. I would probally say the best RPG for the NES in my OPINION is "Advanced Dungeon & Dragons : Dragons of Flame".

Okay, thanks for all of your suggestions. I'll try to play each one of them.
On a second thought, I'm surprised nobody mentioned EarthBound. Apparently it's incredibly popular.

Yea, I started playing EB0 and it is quite slow. Do they have a remake for it for the GBA or something, like Mother 1+2 or something?

Yes, they released it as Mother 1+2, but I think it was a straightforward port.

You might want to try the first two Ultima games (Exodus and Quest of the Avatar) and Advanced Dungeons and Dragons: Pool of Radiance for the NES.

If you like tactical RPGs both Bahamut Lagoon and Front Mission are exceptional.

you think that 'Secret of Evermore' was that bad? yeah, i tend to agree. Only because of the amount of time it took searching for spell components. That sucked. I think I'll play it again. Big Eyes and all.

Robotrek is a pretty good SNES game too. It's got a bit of an early Pokemon-ish feel to it.
