If I had to choose the most unsettling scene in an SNES game, I would have to pick the part of FFIII (FFVI) where Terra comes into contact with Tritoch after fighting Kefka's "army". Terra's scream used to freak me out, and while it no longer does, it will remain a part of my video game playing nostalgia until the end of my days.

So, what are our scariest moments? On SNES or any system?

The Motherfucking dogs coming through the windows in Resident Evil on the PS1.
(It was scary to begin with, but the 1st time that happened to me, I was on LSD.)

If that happened to me while playing SNES, that'd really scare the crap out of me.

I explicitly remember how scary that shit was, they would catch you so off guard, and I know how quick acid can turn on you as well lol. ANYWAYS, back to the topic. I feel that the flashback scene in Chrono Trigger in Lucca's house where her mother has her accident was really upsetting. The first time playing through as a young gamer I did not know the proper way to stop the machine, and you would just have to panic and slowly watch Lucca's mom's legs get wrecked. It was basically traumatic.

Amen. Clock Tower was the scariest overall game, but the giant baby was just plain creepfest.

Clock Tower is the only scary SNES game I can think of.

Mortal Kombat II was scary when I was seven. Those moaning tree faces in the forest stage...creepy!

When Palom and Porom turned to stone!

Oh wait, fuck those two... that was funny.

Scary... SNES... hmmm...

In a morbid way... when Kefka poisons Cyan's town, that is fucked up. But nothing shockingly scary.

I'm gonna be different and say that the fight against Giygas from Earthbound was some freaky shit.

Since FFIV was brought up, I must say that the fight against the Demon Wall was pretty scary.

When all your bananas get stolen at the beginning of Donkey Kong Country. I have a severe potassium deficiency in my blood, so I need to eat lots of bananas and if someone stealed all my bananas I might die, so banana theft really freaks me out.

Jurassic Park, when the raptors came flying out of the jungle and attacked you and all you had was a goddamn stun gun.

Oh and the horribly shitty FPS segments were also pretty scary, but seeing how it was on SNES, it could have been worse. Actually, I can't recall any good looking FPS segment in a SNES game, Final Fantasy 3 included. (The dumb looking mine cart chase in the magitek factory really should not have been in that game)

I wanna say when Rola is attacked by Devious in Metal Combat. Not only did her scream scare me, but the boss looks like a Drag Queen...

Along the screaming lines, Lavos' scream in the Final Fight part. Creepy. It's on the soundtrack too if you randomly decide you want your skin to crawl.

Yeah, that boss did look like a drag queen, now that you mention it.

Also, I would like to second Probable Muppet on the giant baby in Zombies Ate My Neighbors and add the Chainsaw Maniacs to that pile.

Now that someone mentions it, that Giygas battle in Earthbound was oddball. Not really scary for me, but on top of the "Nessnessnessnessetc." part, I couldn't help but wonder what Giygas actually WAS when his true form was shown. THAT's a creepy face. Hell, in the first part of the fight, I thought he'd be hard as hell since he was invulnerable.

The giant baby only freaked me out because of how fucking fast it could move, not to mention the fact that people die when the baby pours MILK on them. The chainsaw dudes were mostly just annoying, but I was unnerved a bit every time I heard that chainsaw of theirs rev up.

Getting an original idea for once, the thing that made me jump the most was on the first F-Zero, whenever your car blew up. Geez, that was fucking loud, and it always seemed so unexpected!

I want you all to repeat after me:

Has the SNES version ever been released in the States? It seems like that you either imported an SNES cart of that game or played it in an emulator. Confused

It hasn't been released in the States as far as I know. For the time being there is an English translated rom somewhere on the internet. It's a great game, I highly recommend it if you like survival horror. There's a PlayStation sequel of sorts too that isn't bad either. It would be great if both were remade, especially the SNES version.

The doll in clock tower always kinda freaked me out.
