The system totally needs a rehaul. But some of them got it right. The high school I went to actually had a majority of competent teachers who not only knew their field but were actually interesting. But then again, I am actually interested in science, math, history, etc. Then again, many of my history teachers are the most talked about teachers in school. My favorite history teacher (and, actually, my wrestling coach) not only discussed things on a level that high schoolers could understand but often injected those discussions with bits of humor that including shocking swear words, Cartman voices, and video game references. He once said during a weak moment at a meet, that he had felt he sold his soul in order to teach kids and wondered if it was worth it. All I could say was that if he reached even one student it was worth it, right? Best teacher ever.
But the other schools I had gone to have been horrible, actively hold back students who where ahead of the curve and even punishing them. I know I was not allowed to skip a grade (or two) because it "would discourage other students" and a classmate of mine was actually SENT back a grade because he was too intelligent for the class (whatever logic that makes I failed to find).

Brains are required for thinking. And don't be too hard on the little retard. I'm sure that he thought it was mighty clever. I'm proud of him for putting that many words together without a spelling mistake.
