Can't you just use the "print screen" button for Windows XP to print the screen? VLC has a screenshot capability as well for video files. If you're looking to get screengrabs of dvd's or other video files, use VLC. That's what I'd do.

Don't do it. VLC is free too and gremlins won't rape you if you download it.

I was under the impression that Syd needs to take a video of his computer in use. Like a screenshot, but video.
If the need is just for grabbing clips from digital media then the software would be different.

Use unregistered hypercam2 there is a free version but it shows a small logo in the corner on the vids you take. It takes about 5 minutes to figure out
