Anyone who didn't know to do this probably shouldn't be watching this type of movie, anyways.

I think X1 was a good film. It didn't follow the comics a lot, but enough. The same as Spider-man.

I really don't care too much about faithfulness if it is a good movie. X-Men is a fucking terrible film. Eventually when I get my shit together I'll post the analysis of it I did two years ago. It is horribly structured, badly written (SNAAAAAKE!!!), insipidly directed, and a horrible mismash of casting of great actors with other actors who cannot stand up to them.

Now, I respect X-Men because it made money and proved to Hollywood that comic book movies were viable, but X-Men is a terrible movie especially in comparison to other films that we've since improved on.

Iron Man is a great example of a comic book movie that learned from others' failures (namely Hulk). It doesn't make the same mistakes that X-Men made. Again, to be fair, X-Men was trying something new so it falling on its face isn't really anyone's fault. But it is a blemish that when looked back upon gets worse and worse.

Is it Uwe Boll bad? Lord no. But we can't keep pretending it is "good", because the kids who watch it and are told it's good are going to move backwards. Elektra is a good example of a movie that made the same mistakes as X-Men.

And this rant and deconstruction of the genre could continue, but I know I've sung this song before.

To be fair, who has time to sit through 12 minutes of shitty music and a bunch of tiny names? If I'm not with friends it is excruciating.

This movie was fucking brilliant. If you disagree your opinion on everything is invalidated.

I say that so frequently it depresses me. Though now I tend to say: You are traitor to America if you hate this movie.

I just saw the movie.

I saw it on Yom Kippur at about 3:00pm. For those who are unfamiliar with the customs associated with the holiday, a person celebrating the holiday does not eat for 24 hours on Yom Kippur. For me I was at 22 hours when I saw the movie.

I thought it was so so. In truth, I enjoyed everything about it except for the bad guy clash at the end. I just felt like it was a strong movie that ended without any real excitement.

Also the movie ended just as my family was getting ready to break the fast. So I fucking bolted out of there prior to the credits. I have no idea what happens after the movie ends.

I'll have to find it online or something.

Howard got greedy for more money. He didn't realize he was expendable. Downey and Paltrow were the only ones that were essential to be in the next one.

Sort of Iron Man related:

Also, Marvel Studios said they want to make Hulk the villian in the Avengers movie. (Which features Ironman)

WTF?????

MTV wrote:
In a recent interview with MTV, Iron Man writers Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby (best. name. ever.) say the plan is to make Hulk the villain in an Avengers movie.

“I hope ‘The Avengers’ embraces that,” Fergus said of having the Hulk as misunderstood baddie. “You don’t want like 10 super-badass good guys fighting together. Where’s the fun in that? Let’s break it off a little. Friends or colleagues [Dammit, Thor, did you finish those TPS reports? -Ed.] who become enemies is always an interesting thing because you know it’s based on love and friendship and that’s always the worst thing to have turn bad — is someone you actually care about and someone you actually believe in.”
“I personally like when good-guy characters have to fight each other,” he went on. “Good guys going against good guys who both believe in an issue is way more interesting than a villain clearly into evil and I like when former friends become committed enemies.”

Bruce Banner is too likable.

He would only be a villain if he lost complete control, and then he wouldn't really be worth saving, making him boring.

yeah, bruce banner does 'hulk out' so to speak.

thats why he was always a menace, even if deep down inside he was trying to do good

A couple of things
Did anyone see Captain America's sheild in Tony's workshop (I missed it but saw something about it online)
Hulk is a big part of how the avengers formed but I am pretty sure that he is being minupulated by Loki.
Ultimate Fury was modeled on Sam Jackson so it makes sense that he is Fury
Lets all keep are fingers crosses that HHH is not going to be Thor
Of course Downey does a great job at being Stark, Downey is an ex/current alcoholic playboy millionare. The only other person I could think of that could have pulled it off was Charlie Sheen but he is getting old
Didn't want to see this when it came out but the comic fan-boy in me made me...

He's got the look to play Thor, he just needs some more actor's training. He was terrible in Blade Trinity, but then again, so was everyone else. (Except Renolds, he was at least funny.)

I just watched Iron Man for the first time last night. Though I enjoyed it, I don't know why every one seems to think it's one of the greatest super hero movies. His origin seemed way too drawn out. Even my mom said "Okay, so when does he become Iron Man again?"

Plus, the ending was really lacking. The end fight was okay.

Also, I love how he was able to construct the first suit complete with missile launchers in a cave with minimal, old-fashioned tools by himself. I know, it's a movie, he's a genius, but that's ridiculous. Especially when he was told "the missile MUST BE DONE BY TOMORROW!" WHAT!? I... don't think it works like that.

I watched a DVDr that my friend gave to me in exchange for one of my gold-plated Hammerburst codes that I got with my Ltd. Ed. GoW2. The ending unfortunately didn't have a secret scene after the credits, just Stark telling his robot he was back or something.

Then maybe you should pay for movies instead of pirating them.

My biggest gripe with the movie was the fact that I felt a lot of it rested on Stark's witticisms and snappy comebacks. Without that, I don't think I would have made it through the movie.

On a similar note, I didn't like the new Hulk movie because Banner is so fucking dull and uninteresting.

Action only goes so far for me if a movie is trying to be legitimate.

I'm not sure that's entirely true, but I'd also posit that Stark's witticisms were part of what made the character compelling. Also, Downey really sold them, as he did the entire character.

I really dug the new Hulk movie, although I'll agree I never found Banner nearly as interesting as other Marvel characters. But Letterier & Norton made a brilliant choice by essentially turning the '70s series into a movie and then adding in all the things the series didn't dare (and couldn't afford) to do: supervillains and crazy over-the-top action.

I didn't pirate it. It was given to me. And I'm sure they won't miss the 15 bucks out of the 318 million they grossed. Don't start this stupid debate again, I don't even download anything.
