Syd,

I am sorry to bother you about this topic, but there is a little bit of confusion and I would like to clear it up once in for all.

Recently my signature change seemed to bother people, however I thought it was within the recommended guidelines. Sure... the content was supposed to be obnoxious, but the signature size wasn't supposed to irritate anyone.

In order to avoid causing future problems, I would like to know what the defined limitations are.

Some of the confusion:
Quote:
Image 360px height unless game box limited to 200px
http://www.sydlexia.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=6514

Height: 200px & Width: 780px
http://www.sydlexia.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=46233#46233

Rule #4 = 800px wide max
http://www.sydlexia.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=9

Example Size: 780px Wide 200px High

Example Size: 780px Wide 360px High

Example Size: 800px Wide 200px High

Example Size: 800px Wide 360px High

To clearly state the question one last time:
What are the maximum dimensions in pixels for a forum signature image?

Thanks,

And sorry to anyone who was bothered.

I'm not good at signatures, but having picture limits is important. Whether they're on a wide screen or a normal monitor, using the low 800x400 deminsions or the higher 1000x1000 ones having a set limit will make sure everyone isn't scrolling 3 pages to see the next post.

800 width is definitely max width.

Height is a tougher issue. The 300-360 range is reasonable for the height of game box, since the width will be in the 100-200 range, but 300-360 height is not kosher for a banner.

The question to ask yourself the following: Is my signature trollishly large?

If you answered yes to even one of the previous questions, then your signature is too large.

Damn it... I like definition. With a flexible answer like that I will always think my signature is too large and M3GA MAN will always think that his is too small.

there is no reason a signature should need to be more than 200 pixels tall. it's only supposed to be a little calling card at the bottom of your posts.

Effin Jay manages to have an effective sig leading to his site without problem. And my robotgumshoe formula continues to be effective. As syd said, less is more.
