Never played Saint's Row, and Fable was such a terrible glitchy execution of an awesome face rocking idea that I became uninterested in it.

Stoked for Fable 2, not so much for Saints Row. The first one was less than inspiring. I like my GTA games to actually be, you know, GTA games.

I like where both SR and GTA are going. GTA is branching off towards realism while SR is expanding on the type of game San Andreas was in its own way and going that route. It is even going to be more customizable. It looks pretty solid to me.
I think there are a lot of things SR did right that was lacking in the GTA games. Since the two franchises appear to be moving in two completely different directions, it will be two completely different gaming experiences.

Even though it was completely flawed for, well, basically what you just said, I was still able to enjoy it quite a bit. The whole idea was great IMO. If Fable 2 improves on everything Fable did right, and at the same time is able to polish it up and make the adjustments to fix any of the problems, I think this should be a bad ass game.

I loved the PC version of Fable. They took the X-box version, patched it up, polished it, and added some new material. It was a great game.
I'm also stoked the Saint's Row 2 is coming for PC. I perfer FPS and GTA style games on PC, just so I can use Keyboard and Mouse, as well as the graphic muscle to not worry about draw distances and such.

My problem with Saint's Row wasn't really the gameplay itself, it was just that the game had absolutely zero personality. The characters were embarrassingly generic stereotypes and the world itself was just really boring, I thought.
The one bright spot was the mini-game where you got to throw yourself at traffic to collect insurance money. Brilliant.

I've never played the first Fable game, but I'm definitely thinking about picking it up.

I'm assuming Fable 2 will be for PC as well, so yeah, I'll probably buy it if I ever get a PC that can run those games.

The first Fable was awesome for the PC. I am excited about the new one's possibilities. I just hope it gives you a few more end game options for equipment - everyone had the same OPed armor whether it be the light or dark version.

I see what you are saying. The main character sort of had to be generic due to the way they made him customizable. But they are going through the motions to fix that with the improved customization for your character. I see why you would feel that way about the other characters.
The things I liked about SR that I think will be better than GTA are the customization of the cars and the character. GTA actually lost a lot of this when they started moving toward realism. They are increasing the amount of transportation (including motorcycles that were absent in the first one) and what you can do to them when you take them to the shop. They are also increasing the amount of insane weapons as well.
In the end, I think SR2 will be closer to San Andreas than GTAIV was. I do like the direction both games are going.

Fable pissed me off because you could not sell the armor or the weapons you acquired. What the hell kind of RPG doesn't let you sell your inventory off to make money?

Really? It pissed you off that much? I wouldn't classify it as a "true" RPG, rather I consider it an Adventure game, but enough genre BS.
There was a trick you could do on Fable to earn almost unlimited money. It had something to do with buying a house, putting trophies in it, renting out the house, breaking in, and I forget the rest.
Fable in my opinion seemed incomplete. It was way too short and lacked non-linear gameplay. It could've used quite a few more side quests and stuff like that. After playing through as good and bad, I found myself getting piss drunk and puking on everyone. In other words, the game got boring. Did I mention the game was way too short?

Good point, imagine that I used in conjunction with instead of .
It just seemed like a bonehead move to force my character to lug around weak ass weapons and armor I'd never use again, remember the stick you get to fight with in the beginning of the game? Yeah that stick is loyal, it stays with you to the very end, you can't even throw the damned thing away. It wasn't really that I could not sell the items, like you said making money was easy enough, it was more that whenever I went into my inventory it was cluttered up with useless crap.
Good concept, fighting and magic controls were both easy to use and fun ( the bubble shockwave spell was cool) the god / evil face changes and NPC interaction was pretty neat, and the visual concept was perfect.
Bad points, like you said, too short, no replay value.

This is exactly how I feel, word for word. That said, it is the best "incomplete" game I've ever played. What made it worse though, was the fact that once you got the best sword in the game, it didn't matter. I would get my guys shitfaced and beat the shit out of my wives, go around town drunk and taunt people with pelvic thrusts, kick the children like soccer balls, etc.
Its been so long since I last played it that I could probably go through it again and still enjoy it. But since part 2 should be out soon, I probably won't.
