The script was written before the writer's strike, which was over a year ago at this point if I recall (And since scripts aren't written in 20 minutes, this was undoubtedly started years ago). How can you write a biography of someone, and more specifically the presidency of that person, when they have multiple years left as president? I know the wiki thing said it focuses on his whole life, but this is obviously going to be bias liberal bullshit.

So this isn't a Comedy movie? From the previews I saw in the theatre, it looked like it was.

I don't think anyone knows what to make of it.

Far as I know it is a drama.

It looks hilarious, and it's suppose to. Oliver Stone has let us down before (The Doors) but seriously, no matter what side of the aisle your from, it's gonna be great. Pretend like the man is not the president of the united states for a minute. Pretend like it's a movie about a failed owner of a sports team, who became CEO of Arbusto Energy and Oil, who became governor of texas and declared June 10, to be Jesus Day. Oh wait, all of that is true. Dammit.

The Doors was not a letdown. That movie was fucking cinematic greatness.

"The Doors" was not that good of a movie. I know a lot of people worship the band, and Jim Morrison's dead junkie charisma, but I thought it was extremely sub-par. I don't hate the band at all, I just think them to be overrated and the movie was as well.

Some people hate "Natural Born Killers". I've never seen the rated version, but I swear by the unrated one. To each their own when it comes to Stone fans. Except the ones whose favorite thing he did was his unproducible Conan script, those people are awesome.

I LOVED Natural Born Killers, but I'm pretty sure that W stands as a stylized way to attack Bush. Nothing more.

Thou, because I am wroth, be not dismayed, for I shall win the strife, whoever circle round within for the defence. This their insolence is not new, for of old they used it at a less secret gate, which still is found without a bolt. Above it thou didst see the dead inscription; and already on this side of it
descends the steep, passing without escort through the circles,
One such that by him the city shall be opened to us.

I don't think it's meant to bash him, seems to me the movie is just an honest look at him as just a man. Looks like it's trying to be fair and humanize him. I actually can't wait to see it.

I would hope so sideway, but knowing Oliver Stone's track record and his political comments in the past, I seriously doubt it.

Yeah, despite the studio's trailer, which makes it look a comedy, Stone says he's trying to make a serious film that shows the triumphs and tragedies of Bush's life and adminstration.

Dunno if it'll be good, but I'll definitely see it.

Oliver Stone was on the Colbert Report talking about the film. He sounds like he made the movie to be apathetic to Bush. He didn't sound like he was trying to bash him at all.

Apathetic is probably not the right word.

I surely hope you caught the massive sarcasm in his tone when he was being interviewed on Colbert.

I don't think he was being completely sarcastic.

Completely sarcastic meaning what? I am not anti Oliver Stone in the least bit, but if you were knowledgeable in things that he has said, or messages he has conveyed in his movies, you would realize that this movie will be 90% anti bush, and anti republican in general, and 9, maybe 10% apathetic towards the man himself.

I can't say that I do keep up on Oliver Stone's politcal preferences or any celebrity for that matter. I'm just going to go see it because it looks good to me, whether it's biast or fair, I don't really care either way.

Hey, I agree. It looks entertaining no matter what side of the aisle you are on. And nor do I keep up on any celebrity or anything of the sort, as you suggest. Merely making a fairly obvious observation.

I can't believe Stone isn't going to use this movie for some political posturing. But I still love some of his stuff regardless. Take JFK. Regardless of what I think, it was an amazing movie in every aspect. I doubt this will be on that level, but I don't know. I'll just wait and see.

I have the ability (some won't) to view this as just a movie. I can ignore any agenda or bias. Since I'm not a democrat or republican, I'm not going to be offended either way. That will help too. If it is made to praise Bush, that's fine. If it was made to bash him (which is more likely that the other), that is fine too. For me, its just a movie.

Saw it last night, pretty interesting and worth the few bucks to see it in theaters.

Not sure if this would be considered spoilers but just in case.

First of it does contain most of the famous "Bushisms" and does have an edge of humor to it, but I wouldn't necessarily call it a comedy.

The way it was written and paced almost made me feel sorta bad for the bumbling bush character. What I noticed about all the current situations explored in the movie (Iraq etc) is that it was insinuated that the cabinet members around him were screwing him over by putting craptastic clauses or spins on the policies he'd put into place and then shoving him in front of a podium when the shit hit the fan.

The flashbacks to his hard drinking college days are all centered around how he supposedly has an inferiority complex with his father and feels that he is never doing good enough in daddy's eyes, which focuses him throughout the movie to get to the presidency.

There's a lot of private behind the scenes moments shot in a way to show the human side and not the president we all see on TV ( him on the crapper, him talking in bed with his wife, getting dressed for the day etc etc)

It didn't really seem that anti bush to me, more anti bush's cabinet. Makes him seem like a sorta slow guy who realized he's dug him self a giant hole by the time he's to deep to climb out.

Also the cast was Excellent, everyone they chose were really good impersonators, even the ones that didn't quite look like the character in question. Who ever played Cheney was freaking scary.

Wait a gosh darn minute.

You saw the movie and did not realize that it was Richard Dreyfuss playing Cheney?
