1. Thank god they're improving the wi-fi. It can't connect to WPA/2/WEP networks, which means I have to go to McDonalds to play, and that sucks.

2. Other rumors include a bigger screen and SD card slottage and that better be true.

I don't know how they could fix it, but the secure wireless thing is BS. I refuse to remove security for that thing.

I really think they should offer some kind of fix for it, like a cartridge with a firmware update for $5 or something.

Actually, in order to overwrite the firmware, you would need to stick a nail near the battery on a classic DS, and take the whole thing apart with a Lite.

I bet you that Nintendo has some form of plug that they could hook in either to the power, GBA or DS slot and do the update if they wanted to.

I can't wait to see what it looks like. I probably won't buy it unless it's a whole new handheld system instead of another DS rehash.

You did quite a smart move buying a Lite. The new DS HAS NO FUCKING GBA SLOT.

I bought mine in late July. But I'm perfectly happy with it.

Introducing the DSi. It has:
- Larger screen
- No GBA slot. (Don't care, all my GBA stuff is emulated nowadays anyway)
- 300,000 pixel camara
- SD card slot
- Speakers larger and have improved sound quality
- AAC audio player (No MP3 support?)
- Still only one touchscreen. (translator error)
- Downloadable software (DS Ware). Wii Points renamed to Nintendo Points. Software price brackets will be Free/200/500/800 points.
Web browser (downloadable from DS Ware store)
- Will release in Japan November 1 for 18900 yen (about $180), two colors: White and flat black. Other territories to follow "next year".

Sigh. I guess I'll go get a DSi. The DS Lite sucked but if they are actually improving the DS...
But I will not get a PSP 3000! I'm just about able to hack my slim. I am not changing that now.

The downloadable service is interesting assuming I'm able to transfer the VC games I've already purchased to the DS. Not too interested in buying them again.

Everything else is kind of meh. Why do we have to have cameras in everything?

Well, I'm still interested in the improved Wi-Fi and the ability to download games into it from the Wii. Even if I buy it, I'll still keep my old DS, mostly because it has the GBA slot.

The only thing I can really add here is that the thing about using AAC files seems to be Nintendo pushing it as a superior audio quality over MP3s. The big example of this being the Wii firmware update the killed MP3 playability for AACs (though if a game still uses MP3 on an SD card for in-game music like Excitetruck or Forever Ocean, they'll still work for that).

Regarding the system itself. Looks good, but I'll miss being able to sync up related titles and get connection bonuses (some of the Castlevanias, Pokemon, etc.)

I've switched to AAC, FLAC, m4a files for music exclusively. I got too sick of the loss of data in mp3s. Even 192/256 kbps weren't doing it for me anymore. Bless you Nintendo for pushing a superior media format. Eventually it will Blu-Ray out.

I remember it saying in had MP3 support too. AAC is way better, but who actually does that? =/

And yeah, I HAVE to buy this because I have OCD and I want the latest. Nintendo of America says "Spring", I say fuck you, I'm importing mine, as long as I can set it to the US stores and in English.
