One flaw in this theory. If the cat lands on it's feet, the toast never technically lands.

That's your classic cat-and-toast engine. Just slap a driveshaft to it, and you can power your vehicle with it.

I don't want to say it's an old gag, but if there's a Wikipedia article about it...it's probably an old gag.
