So I always see where somebody picks a movie like Punch Drunk Love (my 2nd favorite Sandler movie) or a movie that not everyone will like, or like some of the movies I brought up in my Stop or my Mom Will Shoot thread and call them the worst movie ever.
I don't know what the worst movie ever is. I actually like most of the things I see. But I think I have finally seen a movie I can say is the worst movie I have ever personally seen.
Its called Death Toll.
You can tell by the quality that it is pretty low budget. But either the whole thing was ad lib, or they couldn't afford to do the scenes in more than one take. The acting was horrible and they were constantly tripping over lines. I'm guessing most of the money was spent on getting Lou Diamond Phillips.
The movie actually had a message regarding its subject matter, the high murder rate after hurricane Katrina. I can understand if they were trying to reach people and bring attention the problems in NO. But I'm guessing not many people have ever heard of this movie, let alone seen it.
Now, normally, people don't recommend movies they consider the worst ever. But I am curious to whether or not other people who watch it consider it the worst for them as well.
Anybody who wants to point out a movie that lots of people like and call it the worst ever obviously haven't seen this. They need to watch it so they have something to be the standard to compare other awful movies to.

Pathology (came in 32nd place the weekend it opened making $60,000). But seriously, rent it, get drunk, and watch it with friends. It's pretty hilarious if you're making fun of it the whole time, which we were since there were 6 total people in the theater.

At least Pathology has a 5.1 on IMDB. Hangmen has a 3.1. Zombie Lake and Death Toll both have a 2.6.
I'm gonna have to check them all out and see what I think. I can't watch them all at once though, or movies that are usually bad will start to look better than they really are just because of all of the crap I've been watching.

Who cares about IMDB, lots of people have bad taste. I would say Van Helsing is the worste thing I have ever seen at a movie theatre. Its just.... ugh.

In a way, each of us has an El Guapo to face. For some, shyness might be their El Guapo. For others, a lack of education might be their El Guapo. For us, El Guapo is a big, dangerous man who wants to kill us. But as sure as my name is Lucky Day, the people of Santa Poco can conquer their own personal El Guapo, who also happens to be *the actual* El Guapo! |

I hate the recent wave of attempts at comedy in the vein of Epic Movie, Beerfest, etc. A buddy and me went to see something at the theatres about a year ago, and our first choice was not an option so we went to see Beerfest. I have never seen something more stupid in my life. I have a pretty broad sense of humor, but I find it hard to believe that any reasonably intelligent person over the age of 10 or 11 would find that stuff funny.
Edit: How has comedy fallen so far? Its not like you can say its because its more vulgar, because comedy has always had vulgar elements, case in point Lenny Bruce or George Carlin. When I look back at the 50's through the 80's, there are many standouts in terms of great comedic performances, but the last 10 (or more) years seem to be lacking. Standup has changed a lot, comedy films are all ridiculous, and standbys such as the Simpsons have gone way done hill.

I always say, its all based on opinion. Some people are going to like movies most don't. Some are going to hate movies most people like. Its all opinion based and nobody is wrong. But you can use this large collection of opinions to see how well a movie is received. You can use it to come to a conclusion. You can say there must be a reason hardly anybody likes this movie, or a reason why many people like that movie. Sometimes a movie of poor quality can be seen as a novelty. But you aren't likely to a movie of poor quality with a high ranking. There is a reason.
But you are right in the sense that our opinions aren't always going to reflect that of the norm. Personally, I have two lists. My list of best movies, and my list of favorite movies. I can apply it to this movie (Death Toll). I said it is the worst movie I've ever seen. But it is far from my least favorite. I actually had more interest in this than even some movies that are considered good movies.

I wasn't a fan. But I think maybe it was more about the fact that somebody thought a reboot of the series would be a good idea rather than going by what was cannon.
If I could see through all of the BS, maybe it would be decent. But Ronnie Milsap has a better chance of seeing the potential of this movie than I do. I'm just disgruntled.

I'm probably going to get Cruicified for this, but I can't STAND Citizen Kane.
It's just a pointless movie about a man who want's his childhood back but instead gets a crap load of money and can't seem to be happy for himself. They expected to be sorry for us? yeah I'm sorry for a rich guy that has it all and makes his bimbo of a wife play jigsaw puzzles. wow what a crappy movie.

In all honesty, I didn't think Beerfest was all that bad. It kinda overstayed its welcome by about an hour, but at least it was watchable. It was MUCH better than Epic Movie.
[Rant begins here]
I do co-sign my name, John Hancock style, on your assessment of Epic Movie and any other garbage created by Aaron Seltzer and Jason Friedberg. Those two idiots have killed, raped the corpse of, and set the body of "the spoof genre" ablaze and pissed on the flames. What started out so promising with the arrival of "Airplane!" and "Spaceballs" has deteriorated into those celluloid pieces of fecal matter known as "_______ Movie". Why can't the entertainment industry throw us a bone and NOT allow those two fuckwads anywhere near a Hollywood set so that we may no longer have to deal with the release of their biannual intelligence-insulting cinematic cyanide? The worst part is, people actually PAY to see those movies!!! They pay $10 that could have went somewhere more productive, like towards the purchase of a dime-bag, to spend 70 minutes of their life watching this clusterfuck of product placement, fart jokes, and 'humor' that incidentally, makes no one who possesses an IQ of anything over 65 emit a solitary chuckle.
You know what we should do? We should allow Seltzer and Friedberg to create one more movie. Once that movie is complete (if they start from scratch now, they should be done by next Wednesday), it gets released. On opening night, we send out people posing as 'movie quality surveyors' and have them keep post outside of the theater. When the movie ends, have them ask the audience what they thought of the movie. Anyone who gives the movie a favorable response will then be taken into custody. Once they're all rounded up, we send out a firing squad to end their miserable existences. That oughta be a good way to chlorinate the gene pool somewhat.
[Conclusion of rant]
.....so, who wants cookies?

Mortal Kombat Annihilation.
MK1 was cheesy, but at least it was fun and entertaining to a fan of the series. Annihilation was just bad. Like.....bad bad.
