I think the simpsons jumped the shark when it focused more on Marge than Homer.

I think 'Happy Days' jumped the shark when Fonzie jumped a shark.

The animation change in the batman was because they got a higher budget and was more of a studio decision.

Maybe you didn't personally like the animation change, but I think the show got better after the change. The stories got a lot darker and more adult.

Yah, i stopped watching after a while. It was mostly do to the fact by the time the new animation change took place, i stopped watching Saturday morning and network TV cartoons. The animation change was not too bad but the old school one looked more like the comics i remember. And you do have a point, some of the stories were more hardcore but the atmosphere was not as dark as the original animation.

Does anyone remember Captain Planet, i think the show jumped the shark when it talked about HIV . . . some may argue it jumped the shark the moment it aired.

TMNT Jumped the Shark when it went to CBS, lost any character development, went to all action, turned the sky red and changed the theme song to a techno beat, and had them fight Lord Dregg instead of the Shredder and Krang

Family Guy jumped the shark when they:

-turned Stewie into a high-brow to low-brow character
-oversaturated episodes with the "when I was...." jokes that were just lame pop culture references
-turned Peter from a nice guy who was ignorant of his ignorance to a flat-out racist, misogynist prick who treats his daughter like crap
-Overused bit characters that were only funny the first time (Ollie and that gay guy)
-Jokes that were just awkward conversations dragged out for like five minutes
-Bush jokes are not funny any more (I think the guy's the worst president ever, but seriously how long do I have to hear imititations of him that just add a ton of suffixes to words to mock him?)
-Basically anything they ever did to the show after season 3, I guess

So here's to you Mrs. Robinson. People love you more- oh, nevermind.

Good assessment

I just watched Family Guy Season 6 and its definately doesnt have the longterm appeal shows like South Park or the Simpsons manage to have.

The Episode where Seth McFarlene sits around and interviews people and all they do is tell him how bad family guy sucks I guess was suppose to be funny but its so not funny that I refuse to include it on the Season 6 DVD I burned

24: Valencia got nuked... But I have high hopes for season 7.
Alias: When Vaughn "died".
Buffy: Never.
Angel: Never.
Dark Angel: Never.
Lost: Never.
Batman the animated series: After the show ended and we got Justice League spinoffs that I'm not up to date on, but every time I read about them on Wikis, I'm like WTF did they do to ruin my Batman? (alternate answer: Batman Beyond)
Batman the Adam West show: When budgets were dramatically cut. The season started off great, but they shot their budget wad too early.
Black Scorpion: Never, but it was only canceled because it was three years old when it aired. Making a second season would've been extremely expensive.
Entourage: Median bombs at Cannes... okay, I don't know. The show's still good, but season four was looking iffy come the middle before it ended strong.
Seinfeld: The finale, but I'm over it.
The Office: The writer's strike.
Boston Legal: I haven't watched all of season four yet, but it began strong and it ended strong.
Birds of Prey: The girl fight episode, but except for that one, it was all good.
Heroes: Season 2... but it ended strong. Here's to season 3.

Bored now...

Grey's Anatomy jumped the shark when Izzy and George started humping. Maybe before.

Power Rangers jumped the shark when the Turbo series started.

Wrestling: when HHH fucked Kane's dead mom, or gf, or whatever.
Grey's: ditto on the Izzie/George thing
Sopranos: when it became too self-important and less entertaining to watch
Heroes: season 2 suuuuuucked.
Gilmore Girls: yeah, I watched it. Fuck you. The last season was terrible.
West Wing: the last season, post-Leo.

I recently watched all of Batman: TAS and I was upset at first with animation change, but like Jeebus pointed out, the storylines and character play were a bit better.

Family Guy hasn't been the same since they brought it back. It has its moments, followed by a longer series of collections of episodes of unfunny moments.

Hypothetically, I thought Dexter was jumping from Showtime to CBS production wise, and I thought that was going to be slashed to shit, but luckily what I heard was true; It was just being shown in syndication or something.

Pirates of Dark Water jumped the shark when they didn't finish the god damned show. That still upsets me deeply.

Heroes, like everyone has said, the addition of more romantic plots was killing things, but at least they started rectifying that at the end of season 2.

SNL: For the most part about 13 years ago, though they've had some good stuff and definitely some good people come through within the last few years.

MadTV: About season 3, there just seemed to be a lot less writing and a lot more shock value. I never want to see Debra Wilson's tits again, "comedically," or otherwise.

RIP Hacker.

Angel: Second half of the 5th season, when it started to feel rushed. This show never would have jumped the shark if it wasn't for Fox.
Enterprise: It was too uneven to actually have jumped the shark at one time, but I just wanted to mention that Trip's death in the final episode was one of the laziest excuses for an emotional ending that I have ever seen.
Gilmore Girls: 5th season maybe, certainly in season 6 (what the fuck made them think separating Lorelai and Rory for almost half a season was a good idea?). Though it only really started to suck in season 7.
Roseanne: The last season was one of the worst ideas in television ever. The series final did some reconciling, but it was too late.
Simpsons: Somewhere between season 9 (Armin Tamzarian) and season 11 (Maude's death). But everybody knows that.
X-Files: Definitely after Mulder was gone, but it happened sometime before. It certainly wasn't the movie though, as so many people seem to think.

Studio 60: When Matt and Danny were both in happy relationships and the show was about nothing but their relationships, rather than the actual show they were supposed to be writing
X-Files: When it stopped be an episodic show in which they investigated individual X-files, and it instead became some government conspiracy serial.
South Park: This season, unless when we get the second half of the season (Shouldn't that be in like October?) it's fucking gold.

Angel jumpedthe shark in Not Fade Away when the fight with the armies of Hell and dragon is about to attack. So good thing Joss held it off that long.

I concur 100% on that. The whole appeal of Roseanne was that it was a non-sugarcoated everyday family with everyday problems. Once the final season began (where they won the lottery), then the show lost its biggest asset - its identity as a middle-class family going through the hardships of life.

WWF jumped the shark when the WCW/ECW InVasion (yes, that was how it was spelled) epically failed, which was 100% on the WWF.

Family Guy jumped the shark the moment it debuted, for me. Greg the White summed up my qualms about the show rather nicely, especially the way he treats Meg. I never understood what was so goddamn funny about everyone treating Meg like shit.

The only redeeming quality about that show is Brian. I HATE everything else about that show, but for some reason, I love the anthropomorphic intellectual martini-guzzling canine...mainly because he doesn't go on those idiotic 'flashbacks' you see about 20 times an episode. Him and Stewie can be funny together, but every other character on that show (especially Peter) can suck my left nut.
