There are some great 2600 games. Mostly the Activision and Imagic stuff. But as someone else said, the system is so primitive that if you didn't grow up with it, it's hard to understand the magic of playing Pitfall and River Raid for hours on end. |
Fortunately, I've had some moments on that thing, even though I was born much later than most Atari 2600 fans. I guess I was lucky enough to have a dad who has one.
But even if you didn't grow up with the Atari 2600, there is still a way to experience it. A few years ago, I got an Atari Flashback, mostly because we don't have that many games for the actual Atari 2600 anymore. It's actually where I've experienced some Atari games for the first time, to be honest. (One of them is the ever-famous Pitfall!)

Nah, E.T.'s not HORRIBLE, but it's not good, and definitely below mediocre. The problem is that is was both simultaneously not a good game, and it was considered to be one of the biggest causes of the '83 games crash.

So here's to you Mrs. Robinson. People love you more- oh, nevermind. |

That is a good comment, Greg. It's pretty bad, and it contributed to the most infamous crash in video game history.

For anyone who likes/hates/extremely loathes the Irate Gamer, he made an episode featuring E.T.

Here's a video on how to beat E.T.
I just thought I'd bring it up to further squeeze life out of this topic.

I will always love this game even if it was one of the reasons of the 83 crash.

Well, it's definitely not the worst game ever, but it isn't the best, either.
