The Wrestling Observer is reporting that Vince McMahon has decided to pull Randy Savage as a playable character in the upcoming "Legends of Wrestlemania" video game which is slated to be released by THQ next March. Savage, who competed in 9 out of the first 10 Wrestlemania's and won the WWF Championship at two of them, is being regarded by THQ as a huge loss to the video game. In addition to Savage, McMahon has also made the decision to pull Mick Foley from the game even though his character had already been created. McMahon made the decision following Foley's departure from WWE and announcement that he has signed with TNA. Several other names were also removed from the game at McMahon's request, but those names have yet to be released.

Savage was the deal breaker on this game as far as I'm concerned, even though his inclusion was iffy at best in the first place. Oh well, I guess it's back to WCW/nWo Revenge for me.

THQ should code the characters into the game and allow them to be accessible thru leet hacks.

Apparently THQ is mad, because:

1. They know it will hurt sales.
2. They already had Mick Foley/Mankind's character done in coding.
3. The people working on the title are wrestling fans, and think it's crazy to make a game called "Legends of Wrestlemania" when one of the biggest legends is not in it. (Savage was in 9 out of the first 10 Wrestlemanias, his match against Ricky Steamboat is considered one of the greatest matches of all time, and he was in 2 WWF Title main events.)

All great reasons to be mad.

I'd like to see a "Legends of Starcade" get made, but important WCW figures like Jeff Jarrett, the Steiners, and Sting wouldn't be in it.

Well if we wait another decade or so. Maybe Vince will pass, and his children won't hold the biases thier father did. (Though Stephanie might, if the Randy Savage rumor is true.)

If the rumors are true and Vince didn't press criminal charges, then Stephy probably wanted it.

Anyway, I want to see Vince do something meaningful with the WCW and ECW licenses.

He won't though, because to him, they are simply trophies of victory. Like they were severed heads he stuck on stakes. He has never cared about the history or traditions of pro wrestling. He just cares about the money and his own ego.

Simple as that.

Hmmm, pulling awesome wrestlers from the game, is he? Suddenly, I'm remembering why I simply said "fuck it" to the tv show a few months back. Vince Mcmahon is a fucking TOOL.

I had no idea Mick Foley signed over to TNA. I'm iffy at best with wrestling overall, but maybe he'll make that show enjoyable. I know Sting did.

Wrestling games on the NES are pretty fun. Try WWF: Wrestlemania Challenge.

Not yet, I'll probaby get it from Gamefly first, because I've been hearing mixed reviews about it so far.

The worst one I heard, that gave my a shiver down my spine was:

"It's kinda like the WCW Nitro game, except slightly better."

Not only is it the worst wrestling game ever, but it is one of the worst games I've ever played (Nitro, not Impact). It was cool that you could unlock Frosty (I guess). But the fact that to do a basic move, you had to input MK finisher-like button combinations. Fuck that game.

I can't imagine anyone would be dumb enough to recreate the suckiness of that game. Was it from a reliable reviewer or just some hack?

They meant that it had that kinda arcade like feel that Nitro and Thunder had, though they did say the controls were better.

Randy Savage is probably one of my favorite wrestlers. Firstoff he looks like my uncle and second he was actually a better wrestler than Hogan.

Seriously I sometimes wonder if McMahon is really Satan.First he fucks you over, then pays you to be on his wrestling tributes, and then fucks you over again.

This defies physics, it both sucks and blows.

I would love an old school "Legends" game, that would be either focused around Halloween Havoc, or the NWA era just prior to, and just after WCW. Originally 4 Horseman, Ricky Steamboat, the Von Erichs, Dusty Rhodes (or as the Midnight Rider) etc. But I guess I am a bit of an old school wrestling fan.

If it's a Halloween Havoc game, it's gotta have the electric chair match!

Knyte, I've got almost all of those guys on my No Mercy game. I took each alternate look and turned it into a different character. The only thing that sucks is that I can't alter the move sets. That and I don't have any room for more wrestlers.
