No, I'm not talking about horror movies made in North America. I'm talking about movies like Unlawful Entry, Consenting Adults, Domestic Disturbance, and The Glass House where a family is terrorized by a flesh and blood psycopath. The body count in these movies, is always very low becausethe movies strive for realism, but they always reach a point where the movie loses its grounding.

For example in Consenting Adults, Kevin Kline is framed for murder by Kevin Spacey. In the dramatic conclusion, when Kevin Kline shows up at Spacey's house to rescue his wife from Spacey, Spacey muses about how he's going to kill Kline in self-defense... then takes a submachine gun out of his closet. That's right; a motherfucking submachine gun. What the hell? I guess some Hollywood asshole thought it would be more exciting.

You can have AKs and AR15s in my state, but they have to be semi not auto.
But the guy you shoot better have kicked in the door stabbed you a few times and pinched your wife's ass before you shoot him.

Now in good old Texas, you can pretty much fill anyone who's on your property without permission with lead, be they confused Alzheimers addled grandpas or rascally teenagers planning to tip your prized lovin cow. Rolling Eyes

You can have up to Class C firearms in Oregon. Which means anything short of a Mini-Gun. So, depending on where said movie took place, then it could be plausable. However, if the lead character doesn't seem like an Army Nut / NRA member, then a shotgun for home defense would be much more believable.

I think what Syd is getting at is that it's hard to believe anyone would win a "self defense" case by using an SMG.

Yes. Anorexoricist has it.

Also, to Blackout, I am pretty sure the Supreme Court ruled that deadly force can only be used to defend your personal well-being, not your property.

All I know is my grandpa lives out in TX and always has some story from the local news about some trigger happy guy shooting people on his property. I think they have to have TRESPASSERS WILL BE SHOT posted though.

Fear is pretty good. It doesn't get too silly.
