Is anyone else intrigued by this movie?

Any movie with Robert Patrick as the villain can't be all bad.

I don't believe the plot of the movie. The T1000 could totally kick Cena's ass. You can't lock in a submission move on liquid.

According to the email I recieve: "I saw See No Evil, I'm not sure I need to see this to know what it will be."
According to some website: " Most "The _something_" movies tend to be awful. It is an action movie starring a wrestler. We all know how those goes... well, when they're good anyway."

Whoever said that is clinically retarded.

The Terminator
The Exorcist
The Fellowship of the Ring
The Two Towers
The Return of the King
The Empire Strikes Back
The Wedding Crashers
The 40-Year-Old Virgin
The Godfather
The Shawshank Redemption
The Usual Suspects
The Silence of the Lambs
The Third Man
The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance
The Shining
The Matrix

I could keep going forever.

And though I haven't seen it, The Departed looks pretty damn good.

They were refering to The (one word) movies, originally from a review of "The Musketeer". Of which, "The (one word)" really are pretty crappy, uncreative titles.

No matter how good "The Departed" is "Infernal Affairs" is a way better title. Cool

That doesn't matter, it's still a flawed argument. Of the user voted 100 Worst Movies on IMBD, only two are currently The One Word:

The Smokers and The Foreigner

Meanwhile in the Top 100, you will find:

The Godfather
The Godfather, Part II
The Pianist
The Shining
The Sting

And since IMDB, lists the Top 250 but only the bottom 100, here are the rest of the The One Word movies from the Top 250:

The Killing
The Conversation
The Exorcist
The Hustler
The Terminator
The Thing
The Searchers

The IMDB is populated by idiots and I trust their lists as much as a wolverine in my pants.

For example, here's a typical IMDB comment: "The Conversation" sucked much jizzass. Maybe for its time it was respected, but Coppola was off his game again with this picture! "Enemy of the State" as flawed as it was, was a better movie/sequel/reimagining/homage/whatever.

While you want to defend movies called The (something), it seems like they're fairly uncreative titles. As unP.C. as Hollywood is, there is a belief that an interesting title will represent a better picture, because the screenwriter took time to reflect the theme of the movie into the title. However, too creative titles will reflect someone who spent too much time on their title instead of their script. This is what I've learned doing coverage. Does it make sense? God knows. Shocked

Statistically, we have to go to Walmart bargain bin and have a fifty day movie marathon watching every The (something) movie ever made. I'm up for it whenever you are Very Happy

But since I can tell you just want me to name a bunch of bad movies Wink :
The Alamo
The Musketeer
The Cell
The Core - Fun, I'll give you that, cause I watch this much more often than "Million Dollar Baby".
The Rage
The Flinstones - Cheating, I know Razz
The Fog (2005) - Original's not much better, but it's still better.
The Haunting (both versions, though the original is slightly better)
The Grudge and The Ring
The Beyond - I know it has its fans, but that's because it's so bad it's enjoyable. I need to be really sleep deprived to sit through the whole movie. (Tried watching 8 times, sat through it twice).
The Defender
The Forgotten - I know some people liked this film, but I barely understand why.
The Hunted (not starring Christopher Lambert =D)
The Tuxedo
The Limey
The Order
The Player - The ultimate Hollywood movie about Hollywood. Tedious, uncreative, boring, and an amazingly bad performance from Tim Robbins.
The Aviator - Fucking terrible. It's a movie I still watch and say: It's shot really well, but whoever likes this movie is just stroking off Scorsese. What the hell, Marty!?

However, "The Fighteners" and "The Goonies" are f'ing awesome. "The Game" is really a movie I've enjoyed 1 1/2 times. The other times I watched it, I found it slow, uneven, and not very interesting visually (the main reason to watch any Fincher film are the visuals, but there's less to learn from "The Game" than his other films for some reason).
I also enjoyed movies people perceive as bad like "The Watcher", "The Island", "The Wiz", "The Village", and "The Transporter". Ah, what the hell, I do like "The Flinstones" Razz

WOOOO!!! BEST THREAD EVER!!! Cool Embarrassed

Somebody got to the bloooood! Laughing

And technically, it's called "John Carpenter's The Thing"... unless we're talking about the Carrot Man original.

Nerd squabble (at least on my part). I should never quote anyone else ever again. Sad

I hate J'Lo, but The Cell does have a following of some sort. It was interesting concept... I guess.

And I did like The Forgotten, but I've only seen it once. If I watched it again, I might not like it as much. It made me jump a couple of times, which is all I really wanted it from it.

And finally, I have no idea what movie that picture of Robert Patrick is from. I was hoping you were going to reply to the picture and spare me the embarassment of asking, but no such luck.

Good efforts, bad results.
"The Cell" is a beautiful looking movie, but the script is shit, shit, shit, shit, shit. Not to mention the acting, though Vince Vaughn being serious ALWAYS makes me laugh.
"The Forgotten" just bugs me because of A. The Script. B. Julianne Moore, who's good in half the movies she's in, but that's not one of them.
Both films, I believe, are on sale this week at Circuit City for $6...

Hmmm, I have a feeling a "name that movie from the screen shot" game thread is in order. Smile

Just my two cents: The Cell IS pretty nice to look at, but a lot of the setpieces in the film are direct lifts from music videos Tarsem has worked on. That being said, he's apparently directing a remake of "Westworld", which I'm curious about. Though it'll be hard to top Yul Brynner as a bad guy.

One of the projects Arnold had been considering before becoming governor of California was a Westworld remake. He would have been damn cool in it.

On the whole, I don't know if we really need a Westworld remake. Crichton himself has said Jurassic Park was in itself a Westworld remake, and I doubt a WW remake could top the original JP. I guess we'll see though.

I just saw it.

EVERYTHING explodes in this movie. They must use the slow motion dive out of the exploding house thing at least three times in thei movie. I was thoroughly impressed. there's even a rock bottom through a table and a T-1000 joke.

not a good movie by far, but a great way to waste ten bucks and be amused.
