It's about Zack & Miri Make a Porno, not Red State, sorry guys.

In addition to Seth Rogen, Elizabeth Banks and Jason Mewes, the cast just got rounded out by The Office's Craig Robinson and former porn star Traci Lords!

You can also add Ricky Mabe (ABC Family's Beautiful People), Jeff Anderson (Clerks II) and Katie Morgan (HBO's Katie Morgan: A Porn Star Revealed) to the list.

Zack & Miri Make a Porno is being produced through The Weinstein Co. and Dimension Films. Production is set to begin Wednesday. The plot centers around two friends who find themselves deep in debt and enlist their friends to make a skin flick for quick cash.

Um, Traci Lords was (is?) a porn star.

Was I believe. I remember when she joined the cast of "First Wave" I heard she was retired. And if she was the porn star Smith had referred to I would be doubly pissed because of her retirement status.

Edit: I'm not really pissed... so 2 x 0 equals?

Traci Lords retired in the 80s. In fact, she only made one movie that is legal to own in the USA, Traci, I Love You. All her other movies are illegal because she was underage the age of 18.

Traci, I Love You is also not worth owning. There is very little hardcore action in it, and she is the only female pornstar in it because everyone hated her guts after she almost singlehandedly destroyed the industry by lying about her age.

I just flat out don't like Kevin Smith, I'm sorry. I don't have much hope for this one.

Mallrats was funny, Chasing Amy was 'eh, Jay and Silent Bob was pretty fuckin' stupid, and Clerks 2 was lame as shit compared to the first, which was only mediocre itself. I just don't think twenty minute fast talking dialogues about "Star Wars" is funny anymore.

Are those hippie colors in the trailer supposed to be an allusion to 70s porn? He should have cast Marilyn Chambers instead of Traci Lords if he was going for that. Otherwise I dig it. The supporting cast is great. Jeff Anderson, Justin Long, Tom Savini. Can't wait.

I support Kevin Smith in all of his endeavors. I hope this one is quite good, and actually have liked all of his movies. Granted Jersey Girl is what it is, but not a terrible movie. In order I would say I like his movies as such...
Clerks
Chasing Amy
Mallrats
Dogma & Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back
Clerks II
Jersey Girl

Who cares about Kevin Smith at this point? Clerks II was the last good movie he made and even that wasn't that great. Need I remind you all of Jersey Girl (which, thanks to both Kevin Smith and Rod Stewart, has forever soured a great Tom Waits song)?

That's probably because it is the last movie he made.

I care about Kevin Smith at this point, along with a huge rabid fan base. Like I said Jersey Girl you can say whatever, I didn't hate it, it's not my favorite either. I think he is a funny intelligent writer of both movie and comic.

yay, another Tom Waits fan in the forum.

Anyways, I will not be looking froward to another two hour film filled with dialogue of kevin smith talking to himself. I liked some of his early work, but his comic book nerd, pseudo philosophical dialogue gets really boring. You know about a lot of nerdy stuff, we get it. Bad words are funny hahahaha.

Really? I thought Jersey Girl came out after Clerks II...

I stand by my rant! And it's not Ben Affleck hate, it's just a bad movie.

The only movie of his whose dialogue could qualify as 'pseudo philosophical' is Chasing Amy. Otherwise his characters really don't try to appear deeper than they are. How could they when most of what they talk about is pop culture and sex?

Burt Reynolds wrote:

I enjoy well executed profanity. But even all the swearing and pop culture references couldn't save his movies if they were missing the human affection, like the friendship between Dante and Randal or even Jay and Silent Bob. The cursing and nerd talk is just the background of his characters and while most of his audience can connect with that because they do in fact talk like that, it's not the core of his stories.

I agree. One of the biggest things I like is the dialogue in his movies. I would venture to say that if it bores you, then I would say at times indepth nerdy conversations in general would bore you. Plus, I agree with Tyop, it isn't so much the philsophy of it, but the relationships shown and built using said dialogue and crazy rants that his characters go on.
