i mean first they bring out the Wii which I'm just throwing this out there looks like its more complicated than the standard controller of last gen, because for instance in Wario ware they have to show you a diagram type thing to explain how you complete the mystery mini game, but to me half the fun of Wario ware touched was figuring out how to do some of the stuff for me any way.
which brings me to my next point: Donkey Kong Country 3 for the SNES how many of you remember the secret caves you can find where you play a game of Simon says and you get a banana bird if you win, in case not here's a refresher:
now on the SNES they give no explanation on how to play the game which is acceptable because if you cant play Simon says don't bother replying because i don't want you to drool on your keyboard in the process.
however on the GBA they show you no less than three screens of explanation here's pics to express my point,
now isn't this a little much, even by dumb kid standards i think this is a tad moronic, but I'm finished ranting, for now give me your opinions on why I'm Right or bitch me out for being a dick and that i should just enjoy the damned game either of which will do, thanks.

Nah, if gamers want games to be for l33ts I'm all for it. I get the same way when something I like becomes popular.

I do hate how a lot of games these days, especially Nintendo games, have unskippable tutorials that serve as a prologue to the actual game. Why can't it be optional, like back in the day?

Or incorporated better. Like Batman Begins. Put the training level in the same place as Bruce Wayne undergoes training and keep it narrated by Liam Neeson. And the second level.

The whole unskippable prologue tutorial thing started with the Ocarina of Time, as far as I remember.

Hey, it could be worse. We could have instructions in Super Mario Bros. that say things like "press left or right on the directional pad to move Mario," or "press the "A" button to jump." Have you ever thought of that? XD

Eh, with games getting more complicated and manuals getting smaller, tutorials are kind of welcome. It would have been REALLY helpful to know that there was a cannon on the Mako in Mass Effect. Man, I went through the entire game, only using the machine guns on that thing. Buh.

Seanbaby is always bashing games that have tutorials like this in EGM. I specifically remember him reviewing this Scooby Doo game on the GBA that said things like "To move forward, move the directional pad (picture of D-pad) to the right."

I think its actually refreshing to see more tutorials, but like Syd said, tutorials should only be a button away from skipping. With a completely new generation of gamers growing up, I think anything to help them learn is a good thing. Yeah our generation had to figure that shit on our own, but our generation is also lazy as balls, weak, and stupid. I get tired of hearing old school gamers bitch about "l33t" and "noob" Those are also the first times I have ever typed either of those words.

Well the tutorials defiantly SHOULD be skippable ( fuck you spellcheck I don't want tutorials to be shippable )
Also everyone was a newbie, noob, n00b, |\|003 etc.... at some point, it's fun to tease em a bit, but there's no reason to have irrational hatred towards them, they'll either eventually get with it, or give up and cry in the corner.

Yea force grip is a little tricky at first, but thats because its a deep system. Once you have it down you can easily manipulate almost any object however you desire. The controls are very well done.

Video games probably became a n00borz hobbie around 1985-1987 when every American household owned a Nintendo. The elite gamer or hardcore gamer is a relatively new concept that kind of developed as our generation grew up, and never grew out of video games. As far as your point regarding DK country: who really cares? It's a bullshit side game that pretty much doesn't impact the game whatsoever, so who gives a shit if they try to explain it.

Its bullshit. Especially if you've already played through the game. I remember I used to get so pissed during the prologue of Dragon Warrior 2 because I couldn't skip it. Not exactly a tutorial, but along the same lines. Not everyone is a first time player. I just started FFXII again. I was getting pissed sitting through the tutorials (fighting, licenses, etc).
Off Topic, Wrong Forum: What I hate maybe even more is DVDs with manditory previews/shit before feature. My kid is 2. He is very impatient. I'll put some of his cartoons in. There are a few that have at least 4 or 5 screens for the studios/production company/etc. Then there are ones he has where you can't skip the previews, but can fast forward them. Then he has others that won't let you go to the menu until all the shit is done.
That is fine...except if you own the son of a bitch and have to see it 3 or 4 times daily. After I've seen a children's movie 150 times, I think its a little silly I am forced to be reminded who made the movie and what else they made that came out around that time. Complete bullshit. By the time its ready to watch, he is pissed and wants something else. FUCK 'EM.
