I caught TND today on AMC. Like most 90s action movies I've rewatched this year, it holds up amazingly well. Alas, I hopped onto Flixster and saw a slew of negative reviews. While I wanted to kick all their asses for buying into the hype and being a slave to The Man, I wasn't privy to their IP addresses.
But I am to yours.
That is all.

TND wasn't the best pierce bond film, but it was okay! I like Goldeneye better. However, Roger Moorse will always be the greatest bond ever.

The Spy Who Loved Me FTW! Jaws is my favorite Bond bad guy.

Moore delivered two of the worst Bonds ever: "For Your Eyes Only" and "Octopussy". Look at that, I didn't even mention "Moonraker". When your run as Bond delivered as many poor films as that, I think that strips you of all entitlements. But to each their own, except when it comes to hating TND.
I still believe one reason people really like GoldenEye is because of the game.

You know what's sad, the only reason I saw the movie was because i played the game. I guess you could say it was Rare that put me on the path of Bond-fandom. And yah, For Your Eyes only and octopussy were meh, but Live and Let Die, The spy who loved me and yes, moonraker are all classics. Plus, Moorse just had a swavy way about him that makes him a convincing bond.

I grew up watching the Roger Moore. They aren't as awesome as other Bond movies. But they are cheesey as hell. I think that is part of the appeal for me. That and that 70's feel to the movies. Add Jaws (everytime I look at Richard Kiel, for some reason, I can't help but laugh) and it all works for me.
There are movies that are bad in a good way. Then there are unwatchable movies. I don't think any of the Bond movies are unwatchable IMO. So maybe that makes me like them a little better. I dunno.
I kind of agree with what you said about Goldeneye. I know there are some who like it. But I do know a lot of people who most likely talk it up for that reason. At any rate, game >>> movie.

Yes, Jaws is awesome. I'm kinda sad he didn't go up against Bond a third time. Instead he just kind of retires with that blonde chick in Moonraker. While that's a happy ending and the games did bring him back, he was slowly becoming a henchman who just happened to work for the criminal mastermind Bond went up against. Eventually that would've led to Jaws going up against Bond in some epic Sherlock Holmes/Moriarty-type showdown.
But for the purposes of this thread, give me Joe Don Baker!

Off Topic: Did you like Joe Don Baker or Bo Svenson better on the Walking Tall trilogy? Bo was okay on the show. But I liked Baker better in the movies.
On Topic: I need to go back and watch the Brosnan movies again. I don't think I've seen any of them more than once. I still haven't got o see Casino Royale yet either (or the old one for that matter).

Good question. I have to go with Don Baker because he seemed more intense... plus, he's also Mitchell.

Casino Royale (b&w version) - Boring, but Peter Lorre makes it all worth it. Seriously, he should be counted as a real Bond villain.
Casino Royale (Woody Allen version) - It's a bad film, but to me it's so bad it's good. It is directed by five guys because they kept getting fired, Peter Sellers quit and had to be written around, and the script to begin with just isn't good. But it is a lovely mess.
Casino Royale (That guy from Tomb Raider version) - I rewatched it again recently and it didn't hold up. The second half of the movie suffers from severe problems.

I love Peter Lorre. I heard that this version is included with the DVD of the spoof version. I don't know if its true or not, but I need to check them out.

It is, but it is an abridged version. This is because that print was the one that's been circulating since the early 80s. However, someone found the complete version (with an extra act) a few years ago. I have no idea how you buy that version though and Wikipedia makes it sound like it's out of print.

I actually thought it was pretty entertaining, and the female lead was definately hot. Jaws and his pigtailed girlfriend was awesome. This movie taught me most of these guys will turn to the side of good if they are getting laid.

TND at least had a much better theme song than the last two Bond films have had, that's for sure. Seriously, the last two were friggin' terrible! As much as I like Soundgarden, it's just weird that you choose Chris Cornell to make the song for a Bond film.

Roger Moore sucks as Bond.
Wonderful actor, terrible choice for Bond. He got the gig 'cause of The Saint -- a role for which he WAS excellent.
But it's not entirely his fault. The writing on those flicks sucked too.

It's nice to see someone else state the truth. Heck, I liked Timothy Dalton more than Moore myself!

Timothy Dalton was a fuckin' badass in License to Kill.
And I didn't mention "Moonraker" cause I'm one of those weirdos who likes it... although I totally understand why people hate, hate, hate it.

Yeah, Timothy Dalton was an excellent Bond. If they could have made one or two more films with Dalton, people wouldnt think that I am an idiot for thinking that Dalton is the best Bond.

He is truly under-rated. I wish some of of Moore's last films had featured Dalton instead just so we could've seen more of the man.
