My mom was out for dinnfer with her friends, the waitress included her tip one the bill, so she decided what she was getting tipped, without telling them. So had they not figured it out, they could have ended up tipping her on top of the tip the waitress basically gave herself and could have ended up tipping like 30%.

That shit would piss me right off, if I found out a waitress charged me 15% extra for her tip without telling me, she wouldn't get shit and I'd go back and continualy request her as my waitress and never tip.

Stupid bitch.

Bars suck. If you don't throw them at least a $1 tip with every drink, they take their sweet ass time coming back over to you. At the same time though, I do feel obligated to tip at bars because I always order mixed drinks, especially frozen margaritas, and that shit takes longer to prepare than if I just wanted one of the beers on tap.

I'll give a delivery guy a couple bucks, but nothing major. Delivery people aren't classified as service employees, and they get paid the full minimum wage instead of the service minimum that waitresses get. A lot of places also comp them for gas too. If it's a big order and they deliver it fast, they'll get a decent tip. If it isn't or they don't, forget about it. There was one time back in high school that we ordered food at Spanky's house and the delivery guy didn't show up for 2 hours. When he did, it was the this big dumb meathead jock who was one of the star players on our football team. We gave him a 2 cent tip, which he chucked back at the house once he realized how much it was. Luckily for us, that was a full two minutes after we'd closed and locked the door.

It probably wasn't the "Stupid Bitch" waitresses fault. A lot of resteraunts will automatically add the gratuity into the bill. It's way more likely that this was the case, than some rogue watress risking her job to ensure an extra 8 dollars.

Syd: Your probably ok with tipping on delivery drivers. I used to deliver pizza, and 2-5 dollars was considered acceptable tip. Most places would comp for gas, but it wasn't very much, and it didnt account for wear and tear on the vehicle. I don't think delivery drivers should get as much as a waiter/waitress because they don't spend time actually serving the person, but they are using a personal vehicle to deliver you food. Oh, and 90% of the time if the driver arrives late, it is not their fault, it is usually the kitchen's. I don't know about other places, but at my old job, all the drivers knew their shit.

Also, I forget that other states have a service minimum wage. We do not have this, so waitresses can make a ton of money here.

Yeah, a lot of places have a mandatory 20% gratuity rule for parties of 6 or higher, some places have it set higher, and at some places it gets higher if you have more people. Big tables always get priorities at restaurants and this is to ensure the waitress doesn't work all night kissing your ass and then getting fucked over. Also some places have mandatory gratuity standard. These tend to be fancier restaurants or tourist traps. In Disney World, for example, every sitdown restaurant has a mandatory gratuity.

And seriously, people who waste money on expensive pet operations are dumb. Instead of paying $5000 to get your dog some doggy chemo for his doggy cancer, you could take him out into the backyard, bash his head in with a shovel and bury him and no one would be the wiser. Then you could get a healthy new dog for a mere fraction of that $5000. It's called fiscal responsibility people. Learn it, love it, live it.

I go along with my friend Jessica's tipping habits. If the waiter (or waitress) sucked ASS and were horrible with their service, she'll leave just a little stack of five pennies, because "your service wasn't even worth a nickle." I think it's just such a cute way to piss off the waiter/waitress, but I suppose it doesn't have the same punch unless you, like, leave a note or something.

When I don't like my waitress, I slip Rohypnol in my Diet Pepsi and then when she comes back to the table, I say it tastes funny, and get her to try it. Works every time.

My Mom works at a pizza place and the other day she delivered this huge order to a business. She got her money and was like "Oh, do I get to kepp all this?!" and the lady that took the food was like "I guess so, they didn't say they needed change" and my Mom said "Well thank you *very* much for the 4 cents!"

I'll tip a delivery driver, they faced possible death behind the wheel to deliver the food I liked enough to buy but not enough to actually get for myself.

El Nopal (mexican restaurant chain around St. Louis) has the absolute worst service I've ever had. One time we went there for my brother's college graduation, there was a total of maybe seven of us. I ordered a salad (I can't remember which one) and I got what literally appeared to be a pile of onions and peppers (I later found out that there was a small amount of lettuce hidden under the peppers). Then, when almost everyone except for one person was eating, they brought out that last person's food; this was particularly annoying because we'd ordered almost an hour ago. We'd also gotten our drinks almost an hour ago - no refills, however. When my older sister asked for a refill, the waiter stuck his finger inches away from her face and snapped "Hold on JUST one second." Needless to say, no one tipped.

You can almost never blame a deliver guy when your food is late. I was one for years, and every time I was late it was for one of three reasons. Either the kitchen took forever with the order, I was the only driver on to make ALL the deliveries, or the customer lived in the middle of fucking nowhere and gave shitty directions.

Yes, bars do suck, and this tipping bullshit is part of the reason I rarely go any more.

I don't have a problem with a restaraunt charging gratuity. Hell, why can't they just charge me an extra 15% for my food, and pay their waitresses more. Then I wouldn't have to worry about the wait staff kissing my ass, or worse, trying to pad out my bill.

Yeah, I'm a delivery driver for the time being and it does get annoying when customers get pissed at you for forgetting some wontons or breadsticks or some shit like that. I don't bag the food, I just deliver it. Sure, if I forget to grab their drink, that's my fault. But if the food is prepared incorrectly or something is missing, that's their fault. Usually if I forget a drink I'll buy one from a gas station anyways. Now it's off to the "this irks the hell out of me thread" to blow off some steam.

Look, I'm poor. I've stopped tipping altogether in favor of either:
A). Not ordering anything so I don't have to pool money.
B). Going through the drive thru and eating in my car.
C). Picking up whatever food it is, usually pizza.
D). Never putting change in the little jars at Dunkin' Donuts or wherever else they have them.
E). Not getting my hair cut by anyone other than me or a friend.

I really, really hate doing it, but at this point that saved money adds up to an extra meal... Or five minutes with a hooker. And, no, I don't tip the hooker.
