So what's all this nonsense about remaking movies from a mere 20 years ago? Sure, we've exhausted all the good recyclable material from the '50s, '60s, and '70s, but I think that Hollywood is thinking in the wrong direction.
We need to go back further. We need remakes of even OLDER films to make them relevant for today. How about Casablanca with Shia LeBoef and, I dunno, Paris Hilton? ("We'll always have Paris...") Or Citizen Kane with... uh, how about Shia LeBoef again?
But that's thinking too small. People have HEARD of those movies. We need to go back EVEN FURTHER. So how about...
FRED OTT'S SNEEZE, starring Will Ferrell.
Or... Eva Mendez IS CARMENCITA.
But for sheer box office gold, you can't beat...
PROFESSOR WELTON'S BOXING CATS, featuring all-CG cats voiced by Elijah Wood and Johnny Depp.

I'm so against remakes anyway, but the boxing cats are cool.

Sometimes, remakes are alright. For example, Little Shop of Horrors. They turned it into a musical adaptation. Good stuff. But isn't it at least slightly insulting to remake somebody else's vision? I mean, when you remake somebody else's stuff, isn't it sort of saying that they did it wrong or you could do it better?
If something is severly dated, I can sort of understand. But in twenty years, people are going to be saying, "remember all of the great movies of the 70's, 80's and 90's and all of the remakes of the 00's" Is that what this generation of film makers wants to be remembered for? Remakes and reintroducing old franchises?

I'd love to see a modern remake of Big Trouble in Little China.
It's new by the definition here. Kurt Russell could probably playthe same role again

The Terror of Tiny Town is the kind of movie that I can just sit there and watch in its entirety, but the kind of movie not one other person I know would sit through. You know, when you friends act like its a funny idea to get the movie, then when you are watching it, they all just want to turn it off. Just like last week when I was watching The Beach Party at the Threshold of Hell.

Don't mention Shia LaBeouf, he's a 2 bit hack.
I actually wouldn't mind a couple of remakes, even though they might be shit.
An American high end budget remake of All Quiet on the Western Front(I know they remade it in like 1978, but with todays effects, why not?)
Paths of Glory would be nice to see although it would be poop in comparison with the original, as well as Das Boot, wich i still need to see the original of.
Really, any 20's to 40's war movies, more current actors, current effects could maybe show kids now days what they are missing not watching black and white.

Yeah, I think you would be correct. At least his name was Cheesy Beefy on Sydapedia. Anyways, Shia sounds like a girl's name, no offense Cheesy Beefy.

I don't think he is bad. I wouldn't rate him as great though. I just feel like there are so many worse actors out there... why pick him to hate?

I would pronounce it Shy-uh, but it still sounds like a female name. Maybe it's one of those unisex names?

I wouldn't mind a remake of "The Final Countdown", with modern jets (JSF, Raptor, F/A-18 Super Hornet, etc.)

Here's my list of movies that should be remade with Shia Leboef as the lead.
Taxi Driver
Back to the Future
Animal House
Beetlejuice
Bethoven's 2nd
Being John Malkovich
Fight Club
He just makes every movie he's in better!

Anyway, movies to be remade? Hmmm, how about A Deadly Friend? It was kinda cheesy, but with todays effects it could be a decent flick. No CG though. That'd ruin it.

When I first heard about the The Day the Earth Stood Still remake I wondered how long it would take Hollywood until they remake Méliès' Le Voyage dans la Lune. And with steampunk finally making the transition to movies, that might not be so far fetched after all.

I love how Roger Ebert described it:
Roger Ebert wrote: |
"Pearl Harbor" is a two-hour movie squeezed into three hours, about how on Dec. 7, 1941, the Japanese staged a surprise attack on an American love triangle. |

This is probably the best review I've ever read on this move.

Roger Ebert can be really funny. Just read for the quips, ignore the review. His philosophy is that a movie should be rated based on its genre. This seems like it would be okay, but its turned the man into a thumbs up machine. Except for videogames, which he will remind you at every opportunity that sitting around playing zelda is a waste of time says the fat man who sits and pats himself on the back for watching movies.
