And since this is The Punisher thread now... Has anyone seen the original opening to the Lundgren Punisher? The 20 minute back-in-time opening that sets up how the Punisher became the Punisher? There's a picture of it on the back of the DVD release if you have no idea what I'm talking about. |
Original opening? Like, deleted footage and whatnot? If so, where might one find that? |
At DVD trading websites, eBay, and conventions... In fact, I found it at the Flashback Weekend convention! The movie in all its original violent glory... and the heartfelt original opening. It's much less a comic book movie now than it is an epic.

Someone besides us must have liked Thomas Jane version of The Punisher because it's getting a sequel:

Oh wait, The Fast And The Furious is currently in its third installment. My logic is clearly off. |
Tokyo Drift is actually a pretty good movie. Worth seeing in theaters once, at least.
Also, the Yakuza show up in the Punisher game, too.

You guys don't seem to understand...from the years 1984 through 1993 the Japanese attempted to take over everything, using any means necessary. Hence the Yakuza's regular appearances in action movies of the time - these were just patriots standing up for their nation against an insidious yellow invasion.
Seriously, though, I loved the Punisher game on Xbox. My favorite comic book video game, by far, even with the censored bits. It's too bad I sold it when I got a 360 cause it wasn't backwards compatible - now it is and I wish I had it back.

Thanks to Frank Miller, I believe we were all spoon fed this corporate invasion fear. Luckily, it soon died and Americans had to worry about American business leaving the country for cheaper labor. In hindsight, I'm not sure which I would've prefered.

This should be in movies, but as Thread Nazi, I'll just put it here:
The Thomas Jane Punisher is FINALLY getting an extended cut:
http://dvd.ign.com/articles/738/738388p1.html.
17 minutes? I already know what was cut, so I assure you this will be like the "Elektra" director's cut and not like the "Daredevil" director's cut. It's the same movie, but with an odd sub plot added. However, we're all hoping there's some X-rated Robocop-like violence added for good measure.

Speaking of which, will we ever see the original cut of Total Recall, or has the footage been lost?

Damn, I have to plead ignorance -- original cut of Total Recall? What hit the editing room floor?

There was a list of things, dunno if I can find. A couple of scenes were recut to avoid an X rating. The only one I can specifically remember is the scene where Arnold uses the guy as a human shield.
