Who, for the record, kicked the Steeler's ass in Super Bowl XXX.

Be sure to remind your friend of that, if you need a talking point.

Wouldn't America's team be the Patriots, what with patriot being their name and all?

This was definitely a trap just so she could use the Oh wow! You're Morgan Freeman!. However, Dallas? Really? Perhaps you were confused when George Bush was president and he thought that the USA was part of Texas.

Um...people are aware that one of the nicknames of the Dallas Cowboys is "America's Team", right?

I ask because I'm not sure some people are.

Yes, but it's arrogant and incorrect. No team in any national sports federation can ever be "America's Team".

Also Rudy Giuliani is not "America's Mayor". So you lost a building or two, boohoo. That doesn't make you the cultural, political, and economic center of the country. NYC sucks.

Being the most popular and most valuable franchise in US sports gives you a pretty good claim to the title.

Plus it's the one the national press pays the most attention to. Whether that's the cause or result of being "America's Team" is up for debate.

Quote:
In New York, an adult theater showing the films was successfully enjoined from showing the film by the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders under the Lanham. The case was The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders v. Pussycat Cinema. Judge Van Graafeiland of the U.S. Court of Appeals for Southern New York described the movie as "a gross and revolting sex film". The Cheerleaders successfully argued that their uniforms were mimicked by the film's producers and used in advertising. The theater argued that uniforms are strictly functional items, but in affirming the district court, the Second Circuit explained "It is well established that, if the design of an item is nonfunctional and has acquired secondary meaning, the design may become a trademark even if the item itself is functional." The decision has been criticized on free speech grounds, but the Seventh Circuit has cited it for the proposition that "confusion about sponsorship or approval, even when the mark does not mislead consumers about the source of the goods," may be sufficient to state a claim under Lanham Act 43.

The Dallas Cowboys are evil and un-American. If HUAC were still around, they'd be burned as Communists.

What's wrong with making Haddox a hero? Or admitting that America really is getting dumber? People talk about it all the time on the forum, about how people are just assholes these days.

This came off kinda whiny to me. Also, I find the idea of deli clerks being "paid professionals" a bit laughable. I know the store you're talking about, so I'm hardly talking out of my ass or making assumptions. The deli workers are mostly high school and college kids, and they have a RIDICULOUS rate of turnover.

Of course it's whining, but that doesn't make that behavior less irritating.

#1-8 are funny and true, #9 is BS...if they are open, you can order. Clean up should begin after closing.
