Number 1 has gotta be Seinfeld, but I also like the Simpsons and All in the Family. Full house was pretty prominent in my younger days though.

If it counts, The Young Ones.
If it doesn't, Roseanne seasons 1-6

Don't forget Three's Company. It may have been too formulaic, but it was damn entertaining for me as a kid.

How I Met Your Mother is up there for me too. Seinfeld was good and always made me laugh, but I never loved it the way that most people do. I do however appreciate it for what it was. I also always enjoyed News Radio.

That's a good one too! I just wish I was able to watch certain shows without the laugh track, because it gets to me after a while.

Seinfeld followed by It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia probably.
Earlier M*A*S*H does, I'm not sure about "Maudlin" M*A*S*H, but there are still jokes here and there. It felt more like a sitcom that started having substance, even though even some of the earlier shows touched some key issues like homosexuality, alcoholism, religion, and loyalty.

El Chavo Del Ocho.
Seriously, it's corny and zany to the extreme, but the humor is so caustic you can't help but keep watching.
Latin sitcoms aside, I'll vote on Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and Married...with Children.

Unhappily Ever After, followed by Step by Step/Boy Meets World/Full House/Family Matters/Perfect Strangers.
Seinfeld, How I Met Your Mother, Arrested Development, That 70's Show, and many more.

M*A*S*H as an all-time favorite. I'm also partial to The Big Bang Theory and The Office.

Gotta back Rycona on Arrested Development.
Also, not really sure if it counts, but Strangers With Candy.
Hell yes. Strangers with Candy was amazing... though I also question it eligibility to qualify as a sitcom. Of course Arrested Development is great too.
Dances with Wolves 2 is gonna ROCK!

I'm not really sure what else Strangers With Candy would be considered though. It certainly wasn't sketch comedy.
You had weekly stories centered around a recovering drug addict and her dysfunctional family, her teachers, and her new friends. It was a parody of sitcoms, but I'm not sure if that disqualifies it from being one itself.
