I think it would be great if we had some sort of system, where below your username it shows how many posts you have created. Even better than that would be a ranking system depending on how many posts you have. Example:
0 posts = Noob
50 posts = Beginner
etc.
I don't know, I think I just like to see how many posts I have done.

Your posts can be seen on the member list page. There is no ranking system and they do not show up next to your name, because putting an emphasis on post count causes people to post just to drive up their post count. And that's not cool.

I considered seeding the forum battle by post count.

the reaction was not positive.

I quite often get unpositive reactions, but then again, I have been having luck lately with this website. Maybe thats because its not full of retards like some other boards I'm not going to mention.

I would be up for a ranking system where people could rate your individual posts and then the system averages out the ratings to give you an overall rank.

I agree with Syd and most others that basing it on just making posts is a bad idea because it would encourage people to flood the boards.

Another good idea, something like yahoo answers ranking system.

Proboards has a 'karma' feature (well, at least the last proboards forum I used did). Each day you can give one user either good karma (one gained point) or bad karma (one less point).

EDIT: Actually, I think it might have been Kudos, not Karma

I always thought Karma was a good idea but only if it's in the hands of the mods and Syd. It would give us a way to regulate rather then tattle to Syd. I also agree post counts are definitely not a good idea for the reasons already listed.

A Karma thing would not be bad, but god damnit I hate it when other users control it, because it gets out of control, I agree it should be something controlled by the mods.

I have to agree. Nothing like people shitting all over you just because they don't like you. I'm happy without the elitist ranking whatsit that always seems to be going on at other boards.

I was just thinking that currently under our names it shows our joined date. Does that cause as much of an issue as a post count or a rating system?

No. You can't artificially enhance your join date.

You can with Acai Berries. I got an e-mail saying so.

If I grind up my join date to level 80, then I'll have joined in November 2005!
