I was just flipping channels and I happened to catch this episode of the Twilight Zone. It was pretty terrible and I couldn't figure out why... then it struck me: the entire episode was shot at once on one tracking camera. Apparently 6 episodes from Season 2 (1960-1961) were shot this was because they were running over budget. It was like watching an old soap opera or some cheesy ass high school drama production. The drama and suspense were completely gone. It was completely unwatchable.

You mean the entire episode was one take?

It seemed to be. There were pauses in the script for commercial breaks, so it may have actually been a few takes. But each scene was definitely a single take. And while that's impressive to a degree, it looked really unnatural. Well, basically it looked like a play. It was very apparent that they were actuals walking around house and engaging in predetermined blocking. There was no cinematography whatsoever. It can be done with much better effect. The first 15 or so minutes of DePalma's Snake Eyes was one take, one camera and that looked pretty good.

And don't forget the 'Wannabe' video by the Spice Girls. That was all one take as well.

----------------------------------

Baby Spice

Baby Spice, you are so great
Dancing on the tele
I want you to rub my belly
But maybe not on our first date

You are for sure the best of the bunch
Sporty Spice makes me tarry
Scary spice is well... scary
Posh is half-goth and Ginger isn't much

Won't you come to my place?
We can play my 64
There's a bed if you want more
And an after-morning pill, just in case

Wait, why are you leaving?
Why won't you let your dreams come true?
Do you want me to be with you?
Who's this guy with the knife who's cleaving?

So you were only a drug
Your bodyguard took away my hope
Because I crossed the velvet rope
My dreams die upon this crimson rug

RIP Hacker.

Congrats Syd, that observation is TRUE. The Twilight Zone had many rought spots in its five season incarnations. The second season didn't really have better scripts nor a more lenient filming schedule. Of course, compared to the fifth season with hour longer episodes, the second season was The Sopranos. I hear that in syndication the networks air the popular episodes more frequently, but sometimes the stinkers need to fill the timeslots. On behalf of Rod Serling, I apologize.

Man, Tebor, for a moment I thought you were referring to Syd's Baby Spice sex tape...
