I was gonna post this in the Nacho Libre thread as that's the movie it pertains to, but I thought it was important enough to have it's own thread.

Syd, Spanky, and I saw Nacho Libre on Friday. However, Syd had seen it (presumably opening weekend) with a couple of our other friends. It turns out that when we saw it Friday, there were a couple pieces of dialogue removed from the movie, such as when Jack Black's tag partner explains why he only believes in science.

Has anyone else ever experienced this? I enjoyed the movie, but I feel cheated now knowing that there were jokes removed. I'm occassionally teased for a time when my friend didn't change channels to a new episode of the Simpsons fast enough saying that "I missed a joke". Well never has that been more appopriate and disappointing.

Oh, and for the record, my friend with the remote's response to "I missed a joke" was "You're a joke and I don't miss you". It may have been at my expense, but that's too good a line to not share.

Damn, now I want to know if I saw the uncut version or not...

However, this happened to me before. In Matrix Revolutions, which I saw three times in theaters, the third time removed the scene of Agent Smith talking to Sati and Seriph. Kinda odd, especially because I loved that scene. It was projection problem as close as I can figure.

Episode II was oddly much better the second time in theaters... but that's because I saw it on IMAX which cut about 15 minutes from the film. IMAX films are always abridged versions of films because each reel of film weighs so much.

Cars is in talks RIGHT NOW about removing the scene of Lightning out racing a train, because it sends a bad message to kids. I disagree, but the DVD may cut the scene if not sooner.

The most famous example of a scene being cut while the film was still in theaters was Kubrick's The Shining which had an epilogue scene of Shelly Duvall in the hospital and the doctor giving Danny something from the hotel which was "spooky". However, Kubrick thought the scene ruined the film and cut it from theater prints after the first week.

The Muppet Christmas Carol was edited in theatres. They took out some of the songs because it was felt the movie was too long.

And Napoleon Dynamite too, although in that case they added in an extra scene.

Some people who saw Batman (1989) in the opening weekend have reported remembering a scene where Batman runs into some homeless kids in an alley and one of them asks him if its Halloween already. It has never been confirmed the scene was ever in a non-workprint reel, but it does appear on a Topps card which may be where people are remembering it from.

Yes they do this all the time. I remember watching Kill Bill and when I was watching the DVD every time they said "Beatrist" name you would hear a bright noise.

Also the Martrix I specifical remember Neo sticking his middle finger up for a good long ten minutes or so( thats how long it felt ) at Mr. Smith but when it hit the television all we got was "I will give you a flicker and I want my call" no really WTF was that and in which book is that a finger. God almighty that was the most suckiest premiere thing in the world.

I don't know if they cut Kill Bill II since I went early.

Again this is news to me since man oh man you spend the money just for one show and waste it on a movie that has been cut up over a short time.

I think you mean Beatrice, because I don't think Beatrist is a real name. I can understand the second part, but what does the first part have to do with editing?

Neither of Regal's things are relevant as one is on DVD and one is on TV. Nothing to do with being edited IN THEATRES.

Well I watch a movie again and again and when I see it at the source I guess the movie is whole but then when viewed at home or from another source I see things that have been removed.

You're an idiot dude, that noise is intentionally there and was always there because you're not supposed to know her name in Volume 1.

No one has addressed the fact that he is mad that when he sees Neo give Agent Smith the finger on tv they change the dialogue and don't know the finger. Hi, in America networks and basic cable channels edit out things like that because of supposed indecency or profanity. It has nothing to do with a company editing out something while it's in theaters WHICH IS WHAT THIS THREAD IS ABOUT.

you ever heard a ringing noise after being pucnhed or the sound your tv makes as if it was to explode. Thats what I mean bright noise but made for real. Or you might hear a noise and nobody else hears it.

Just so I don't appear to be the Zombie-tard I hope I'm not, I was referencing a MySpace bulletin no one here would know about. The question was: "If your favorite family member was turned into a zombie, would you kill them?" The person's answer was: "No, because everyone knows if you kill the head zombie they all go back to normal." I thought it was a funny way to not actually answer the question, so naturally I had to steal their excuse for something completely different.

Oh well, we'll always have the archived posts to remember Regal by. Maybe one day Tom Hanks can decode them.

Even better, maybe Hollywood will adapt Sin's time here into a movie starring Tom Hanks. Kinda like Forrest Gump, but instead of boxes of chocolate and shrimping, he'll be hunched over a computer all day, writing furious responses on a messageboard and crying when people keep telling him Zero isn't Bass.
