My town didn't get hit too bad (at least where I live) but a lot of surrounding towns did. I went to a local supermarket yesterday and 80% of the parking lot was cordoned off with tape and bright orange barrels because it was underwater. Surprisingly, the store was still open.

The Philadelphia local news was showing scenes from Wakefield, MA tonight. Looks like you guys got destroyed. Some guy on camera was in the middle of a sentence when a tree just fell over due to the water-logged soil.

Thou, because I am wroth, be not dismayed, for I shall win the strife, whoever circle round within for the defence. This their insolence is not new, for of old they used it at a less secret gate, which still is found without a bolt. Above it thou didst see the dead inscription; and already on this side of it
descends the steep, passing without escort through the circles,
One such that by him the city shall be opened to us.

The section of Wakefield that I live in is comprised of many hills and valleys and we got doused pretty good. They shut down one of the main roads for the day, which backed up traffic everywhere else. Plus a couple of sections of two of the major highways (Rt 1 and Rt 128) were closed off. The towns next to us were hit much worse, so I feel lucky, falling trees and all.

Godspeed up there. I didn't really consider the flooding to be too big a deal until I've gotten some details on it. And I sure as hell have never heard of a tree just falling the fuck over.

Stay dry Northeasterners.

The rain might be a blessing in disguise though. It is supposed to rain some more later in the week. That may sound bad to most people, but I have jury duty in Cambridge on Friday and I really, really, really don't wanna go. If it gets bad enough, I might be able to use the rain as excuse to bail.

Just because Pauly Shore was excited to do jury duty, doesn't mean you can go and skip out on one of life's unavoidable circumstances.

Wait, I take that back. I have never seen Jury Duty, nor any other Pauly Shore movie. In fact, I don't even know who Pauly Shore is.

This is the second time I've been called in the 7 years that I've been eligible, so I'm a little pissed. How bad is the jury pool that I get freaking called twice in seven years? And in Massachusetts if you don't show up, there's a $5000 fine and I think jail time too. It's ridiculous. Of course, if the governor declared a state of emergency in my county, I'd be in the clear...

Usually it's once every three years, so you're actually behind the curve.

I'm pretty sure it's every five years... I'll check the brochure again. If it's three years, that's wicked bullshit. I have better things to do with my time than travel to and fro across the state so that some jackoff can get a fair trial.
