No, this thread isn't because I have a new article on the site, although those should be coming shortly. Just saying that after a long absence (winter break), I'm back on the forums and should be here very regularly.

My God, there's actually a peripheral for the NES I didn't know about?!?
(And yes, I'm well aware of the peripheral that was basically a laptop you put your hand in and pretended it was a plane that worked with like 1 game)

If by peripheral you mean "light gun" and by NES you mean SNES, then yes.

I would have figured that the SNES cartridge in the foreground and the barely obscured words SUPER NINTENDO in big red letters on the box would have been good clues.

Syd, clearly you haven't looked at me in a while, cause if you did you'd see the huge bags under my eyes. Such a lack of sleep gives me permission to be totally incoherent, as well as makes it look like I've been crying for like a month straight.
